Hi all I am looking to buy a 348 ts in the next few months and was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on what to look out for regarding potential very costly problems (the minor ones dont bother me they add character). I was also wondering which is the best version to get for all round running costs an fun as i am led to believe the later models were better than earlier. Oh and also i had a look at the cost of running one and have had varying accounts from not much £500 a sevice to thousands. Which is correct? Am i also right in thinking that there is a problem with the cars overheating on the standard exhausts or cats? Thanks Ps Cant wait to get my hands on my new toy

There's a 348 fan site that has some of this data will emerge if you use the 'search' button - also it should yield lots of other threads on this site discussing the various costs etc - particularly in the UK - here it is : http://webpages.charter.net/aircover/348/1994Ferrari348Spider.html there's also this one http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&t=259176
Jimmy, the simplest tip is buy the best you can possibly afford, unless you really know what your doing even small things can cost more than you think to put right...if you have a look at http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96614 you'll see that whats probably the best 348 in the country may still be for sale (unless Dales sold it?) A yearly service (fluids & checkup) is around £3-400 at most independents with a 4-5 yearly cam belt change costing around £1k + the whilst it's apart bits most owners want attended to.......thats the regular service cost's, the expensive bit is if something goes wrong or needs replacing (clutch, tyres etc) as these are limited production cars the price of some parts is pretty eye watering! Whatever you do you must get the car checked out before buying it there are lots of tarted up cars out there that will destroy your savings!
