I thought this listing is interesting, 74 GTS (concourse) currently advertised in Hemmings for 350k, wonder how the owner has determined the price? there aren't any concourse 74 Dinos for sale that I know about, suppose he finds a buyer at his asking price or close to it, would Dino prices generally move up or we need to wait for few more sales to get an average ? I am curious to learn how can one determine the market value if none is out there and demand is there ? do you thorw a high number and wait for those eager buyers?

"BEST in the world" Thats a bold statement! I would say that there are a few people out there and on here whom own equivalent or even maybe better cars and wouldnt overvalue them to that degree.
Interesting point here though, Where did he obtain the "new" rear glass from? I also note that there is no mention of the actual tool kit being present.

    "Dash in original mouse hair."

Looking at the interior photo, I would say that this is an untrue statement. It look like the shaggier replacement mousehair to me.

Re: the price, no way. 225, 250, maybe. But not 350!

Much discussion and data is here.

The market is an offer market (i.e not a bid market) that clears by varying the stock turn (i.e how long you are prepared to hold out at a given price) and negotiation (what's the real price?). The evidence of the 1989 boom is that prices can fall up to 70% in a "crunch", but generally it seems that the discount to reasonable offer prices varies between 5-10% and auction prices are another 5-10% lower. There's always some madly priced car out there - we had one in the UK at £147k/$300k(approx) that's now "POA" - A sure sign that there's a negotiation to be done.

I wander what the highest actual price paid has been?

Strong claims from the seller, but I couldn't help notice a few things that I'm not sure about
    - seller states "Please note the factory four-point competition seat belts"
    - the seats have no "pleating rise" between the inserts
    - leather color is inconsistent from seats to doors
    - steering wheel does not say "Momo"
    - rear cam bank has no R1/R2 switch (left of the fast idle cam
    - On the drivers side of the rear cam bank there is a gold cadmium colored device above the air filter

Are Dinos at these prices now?

Not for quite a long time I would think.

Not that I would not love to own one, it's just not that long ago that it was $35K. I know the rise was strong, just not that strong.

239k for this Ebay Dino seems like a good price, it is still a nice Dino all things considered. I dont think 200-250 is outrageous, if you were to compare the prices paid for muscle cars by car collectors here in the US for real vettes and hemis and even replicas, I would have to believe European and American collectors will soon push the price for the few Dinos available for sale to levels we have not seen, I am watching the market on 190 sl's, 220se cab and coupes, P-356 coupes and cabs, and the list goes on and on...I know I had few of those cars myself over the years and I wish I had not sold but I did because of availability, I have no problem finding any of them now...but much more of course. When it comes to Dinos however we have to weigh in how many of those are available for sale and who wants them, well I can tell you this, not too many available and the people who want them are very sophisticated colectors who more than likely have the money and willing to pay it to get one. Sincew we know the general price trend is definitely up, Dino owners are pushing the price up and I think will hold out for these buyers to come throug, we all know the real and fair price for one Dino is subject to actual sale confirmed by auctions houses and perhaps private sales by dealers or individuals. I would have to believe some sales will come through and it will be surprising to many, just like we all are how much Hemis and vettes are bringing at these auctions and some of the other collectibles...considering the priceas paid for some of these "considered collectible" junk, I would have to believe the price Dinos can go north of 300k sooner than we believe...lets watch and see.

I agree, very bold. IMO the best in the world would be an original car that has all of it's original parts and in perfect condition. That being said I don't think that car exsists. Why do these guys always have to list them as "best in the world"? It's almost a code word for "only 5-10 items missing or not correct".

There is an orange one in Santa Barbara that is very close to being trotally original, wins platinums every year, and even the Coppa Bella award at Monterey 2004.

    Scott,
No bid. A little (or a lot) too much. Your two notes are interesting. The missing switch doesn't go with all of the other smog stuff still there. That Cad plated thing is part of the exhaust air plumbing. I had one too. Might be that the air pump clutch was dumped along with the switch when car didn't need to pass smog. Car runs much better without both. I pulled everything long ago. Saved the pieces in my basement. Any buyer should get the remains of any smog stuff pulled. And the ad should note the modification.

PS - I've seen some steering original wheels without holes in the spokes, but I thought those were early models.
