Brunei Ferraris

According to the article on Sultan of Burnei that I read in CarandDriver or RoadandTrack(don't remember which one) He does have 5000 cars.

 

He does/did have around 5000 cars. Not 500. He have 500 motorcycles alone.

Not really that well connected. I've been offered a couple of the Bentleys by a well known broker on the left coast on an occasion or two. I considered buying a Brabus 7.3 S-class that was fully armoured out of the collection about two years ago. Only going for $45k asking. RHD and DOT worries cooled my heels. Most of the cars being sold have ended up in Mayalasia, OZ and NZ.

Actually, only 14 Ferraris have made it to NZ from Brunei -:
3 x 355 F1 Berlinetta
1 x 456 GT
4 x 456 GTA
1 x 512 TR
2 x 550 Maranello
2 x F355 Spider
1 x F512M

A good number of others, especially Mercs are also here.

The condition of several of them was poor with little or no maintenance for several years. Several developed serious $$$ gremlins when here. You always hear of the stories from Brunei of airconditioned garages but this was not the case for all cars. Many sat unused, unserviced and in the open air sweltering humidity for years. The interior of many cars were covered in mould.

many thanks everyone for all the additional info. I fried my dsl modem (don't ask) and so i haven't been on for the past few days. Right now i'm on our "backup" 56k and i guess i'm used to dsl but i've been on for 10 mins and i'm getting off. I can't stand it. I'll have some more updates on wed/thurs depending on when they get a new modem out. Thanks again everyone (gaggi, enzonz, judge etc). btw, if anyone has some other pix they would like to share, it would be appreciated, i've found some that i'll post when i get dsl back. btw, if you don't want to share any here but you want to help the cause my email is [email protected] .

sorry, one more thing, does anyone have any pictures of any of his mclarens (i'm a mclaren freak as well as ferrari). he has 2 black (yes, black) lm's which are black and grey and have bright checkered flag decals (PLEASE, IF SOMEONE HAS PICTURES POST THEM OR EMAIL ME...I AM BEGGING), he used to own chassis #014 (now in the us, owned by a Mr. Schaevitz i believe. it is yellow and was at a WWOC show last year) and gtr chassis #009R which is a replica of the lemans winning 001R. I have a pic but i think i'll post it on wednesday with the other pix. I think he owned a white road car which was at taylor and crawley a while ago. There is/was a white car in Australia/NZ (can't remember) and i have a few pix of a white one in Japan. If anyone knows anything more about these or any of his other mclarens, please let me know, your generousity will not go un-noticed.

The Ferraris were like this, or the Mercedes?? I cannot imagine anyone just letting a bunch of Ferraris sit outside and rot from brand new. The Mercedes....well, I guess that could happen. I assume these cars had no miles on them either.

 

do you know of otherwise? just because you and i wouldn't treat them badly doesn't mean that he won't. From what i have heard, all the cars have been driven somewhat.
