    Kind of ironic that a (yellow, replica) German WWI plane crashed into a (yellow, replica) US WWII plane :/

    So far they haven't caught a break with the weather. Either 95F+ or 80s with occasional monsoons.
    I was really looking forward to the airshow, supposedly B29 Fifi was due to fly, but my 74yr old dad was out of gas by 3:30 and I wasn't far behind.
    I could have spent all day just wandering around Warbird Alley.

    I am jealous. I've never gone to Oshkosh.

    It is definitely on my "to do" list.

    Ouch on the planes.. hope "no fault" there..

    Oshkosh on my "to do" as well!

    Did Goodwood FOS last month, visited Duxford but just missed warbirds by day or so.. off to Nurburgring in couple of months to tick another box!

    Oh ****.

    That yellow 7/8 D7 that flipped was just completed a couple of months ago by a friend of mine after about 2 years of building.

    It just makes me sick, as it was his pride and joy. I can't imagine how I would feel if that happened to my Camel.

    Oshkosh should be on everyone's to do list if they are interested in planes at all. The sheer volume of planes and aviation related stuff is amazing. Maybe an Fchat does Oshkosh should be organized for next year or something. It's quite an experience.

    I've been to Farnborough once, and I've been to Oshkosh once (for the show, at least; I've visited the EAA Museum a few other times), and I thoroughly recommend both. I only wish I'd had the chance to do each more than once!

    I'd say to stay at Oshkosh at least three days; otherwise you have no chance of seeing everything!

    BTW Oshkosh is only about 1.5 hours from Milwaukee so it's really not too far to stay here and make a couple day trips if you can't find reasonable rooms near the show.
    Just beware, RT45 leaving and coming into the City is a ***** for most of the day, especially rush hours.

    Nice bucket list you have there, very similar to mine :)


    Sorry to have been the bearer of bad news.
    I didn't get a close look at the D7, but wish I had now.
    Hope he saved any jigs or special tools to make new wings....

    Apparently. Winds were strong enough to rip concrete-reinforced tie downs on the tent we took cover under.

    Yep - the augers were pulled out of the ground and were still hanging from the wing.
