I'm guessing the photo to be around 1973-74?
I don't think I have shared these before; they are from the 1978 meeting at Pierre Bardinon's Mas du Clos. That year they actually dragged out most of the cars from the collection and ran them around the track a bit. Among the cars you will see 0778TR (Dino) which I had sold to Pierre as a derelict. When I walked up to it a mechanic was fiddling with it and I asked if he spoke English. His response was "non", so I made up a little French: "Je vendre cette voiture a Pierre." I have no idea if that's correct, but he was completely unimpressed. You will find my pal Chuck Queener in the red jacket looking at the F-1 car. How many can you ID? I recognize Chuck Queener and Phoebe but who else make the trek with you? is that Joe Alphabet in the first photo? Jeff
Ed, The photo of the P412, with the JCB sponsorship stickers ... surely that is #0854 and thus would have been owned by Clarke (I think) and thus not part of the Bardinon's collection, and just maybe this photo does not belong with this group?? I notice in the other photos that there is a P3/P4/P412 in Bardinon's collection that has no numbers ... which chassis would that be I wonder? Pete
Should have been 0860. These are old photos as sadly, many of these cars are no longer at Mas du Clos. The cars still remain with new owners, but that was some incredible place in it's heyday.
Hello Pete, The 412P should be 0854 when owned by Sir Anthony Bamford (replete with the family JCB sticker/JC Bamford & Sons, Excavators). Immediately behind it is his 250 GTO 4399GT on its JCB 250 reg before it was switched to APB 1. No reason to believe this is Sir Anthony's home track however. Mr. Bardinon was quite the host and I'm certain these cars were brought over as part of the days' running. If Marcel were here he could go into topiary as to why the two circuits can not be confused. LOL. Best, Dave

Hi Pete and Ney, In the 9th photo Mr. Niles posted (the one in question), I think the cars are; Front Left 312P 0870 Front Right 512S 1018 Rear Left *the car in question* 412P 0848 (now with Perfetti) Rear Right 212E Montagna 0862 Mr. Bardinon did own 0860 at the time. However, 0860- while built as a Barchetta- was converted to a 350 Can Am. When Mr. Bardinon had it restored, it was as a 330 P4 *Spyder*. Best, Dave
Those are Sir Anthony's cars at Mas du Clos in '78. The JCB lorry driver ran over some drainage grates damaging them badly and Pierre was not happy. Thanks for the memories Ed. CQ
Ed, If you're hiding any more like these, please pull them out and post them! Thank you, they're great. George

Dave: Yes - I forgot that he had 0848 and 0860 wsa rebodied as a spyder. Thank you for the correction. Also in that photo is 0866, behind 0862.
Chuck, tell 'em about the time we stayed there as private guests; the dinner and the wine cellar, etc. Your stories and memories are better than mine.
0860 is a 350 Can Am re bodied with a "P4" spyder body. 0860's original P4 Spyder Body is on DP's "0900". As 0858 is now also a 350 Can Am the only P4 existent is 0856.
Ed, Do you really want me to tell everyone about leaving Pierre's cellar in the wee hours (2 am) after drinking various cognacs Pierre labeled as "312, 512 and 712"!!! During the evening a heavy storm was doing it's damage and those beautiful cobble stones were as slick as cat s---. Is what happened next coming back to your foggy memory??? We did sleep in that morning. It was a memorable trip. CQ
Thanks a lot for these pics Ed.. They are realy marvelous. I visited Mas de Clos during the 90's and unfortunately at that time is was no longer allowed to take pictures in the cellar..
I was very fornunate to visit with Bardinon in 1997 while performing a pre-purchase inspection on GTO #3451 for a client. The entire facility is most impressive and truly unique. The French Socialists have made many car collectors anxious and guarded so many of the experiences described here may be a thing of the past.
