I don´t know if this has been requested before or if it´s viable, but I would like a mobile version. I know that I can use that Tapatalk but I don´t like it. It would be great to have unlimited space for uploading photos in free accounts, even if it´s restricted to say a few Mbs per year.
between Tapatalk and using mobile device browsers I think we have mobiles covered about the best we can. we give a 7.5 Mb generous limit to nonsubscribers, if you use more resources than that then either subscribe the 4 cents a day or don't post more images. Thanks.
we'll have to go about it another way then getting rid of quotes, because quotes are what helps the thread stay together. think how disjointed, tangent, and hijackful it would become without.
I'm assuming it would be just like on Facebook where you can "like" a comment in addition to "liking" a status update. Let's say someone in the Aussie section says "Vegemite is nice mate!" Instead of replying, "Nice mate ", Pap could just "like" the original post about Vegemite.
Hey Rob, I noticed that the shorter youtu.be links don't embed like regular youtube. It seems youtube is pushing these new links out when you click "share". Thought I'd give you a heads up
Not sure if this is even possible, but it would be cool to have a user CP setting that allowed you to see post count plotted against time. x-axis would be time, y-axis would be post count.
FC actually had that "feature" when the switch was made to vB. It was so rarely used it was removed after @ 1 1/2 months [IIRC].
I really like the "Forum Jump" button at the bottom of the screen....that was ingenious...bravo to the one who came up with that
How can Rob Lay make FerrariChat.com better? 1. You give us a free Ferrari. 2. You let us drive your Ferraris. 3. You let us drive your Maserati. 4. You let us borrow your truck when we need it. 5. You let us fish from your boat house. 6. You clean the fish we catch. 7. You cook the fish we catch. I can go on, but you get the point. Dale PS Or you can make nice with Art.
The "log out" is only on the homepage, why?? It should be on every page (and at the top, not at the bottom) so that there is no need to go back to the homepage in order to log out.
Im sure this has been mentioned but id like to see those 'poster ratings' that some forums have where you can '+' or '-' members posts and it keeps a running tally.
That's not a bad idea - they use those in the Torrent sharing sites quite frequently...helps to weed out the bad apples, and also who the good sources when choosing which file to download.
capability for thread and user ratings, but do we want to open that can of worms? I've seen it a couple times where users were great for awhile and then got a little too comfortable and popular for their own good, then things kinda flip flopped. I'm just not sure how accurate a quantitative system like ratings can fairly and accurately judge something qualitative. What is a bad user? On eBay IMHO anyone with less than 99.9% rating is questionable. Other rating systems Ive seen a 3 or 4 stars out of 5 is really hard to get. anyone on a vBulletin community where ratings work well?
I would strongly oppose the introduction of a rating system on FChat. It's nice in theory, but it does not work in practice to guide users to genuinely helpful threads and posts as the system becomes widely abused, easily corrupted, and rapidly worthless. The problem with rating systems is that it quickly becomes a popularity contest or a game. The "thanks for this post" feature becomes a signifier of popularity, a quick way to simply alert the poster that you've read the message, or a flippant/sarcastic "thanks" for something obtuse. Similarly, systems that mark out reputation become ratings of popularity rather than technical contribution and there was actually a game for increasing reputation points on the MINI forums, or a way of sending private messages to one another without having to send a full PM - until the system was "broken" with users reaching the maximum amount with no further increases. You've all seen for yourselves what people are like when there's a "free post" going to get up post count - same deal here... only much, much more exacerbated. Honestly, we're better off without all that. I think someone who knows what they're talking about will justify their guidance with descriptions of first-hand experience or with a detailed technical description that will hold up to scrutiny. People are smart enough to decide for themselves from which posts they want to extract and apply information. All the best, Andrew.
