and they look great (pretty small but very nice) only need to find a place to attach them on....
    Thanx Tom

and to the dutch, I will drive as much as possible with it, so if you see a small car, revving a lot and trying the gears, with a driver with smile from ear to ear, that's me......

After I sent them a long Email, mainly with the excellent information provided by Kare, the MM organizers have just informed me that they were mistaken in considering that a 212 Inter had never participated, and they now recognize it as a model that has run the MM. Hurray! Thank you Kare!

The crucial date is approaching - May 15th. Will the car (and the drivers) last the distance? Will we make it to the Futa and Raticosa passes?

Twenty one Ferraris have been accepted.

    2 166 MM
    2 212 Inter
    1 225 Export
    1 225 S
    2 250 GT
    2 250 GT Boano
    1 250 GT Europa
    1 250 MM
    1 250 Monza
    1 340 America
    1 500 Mondial
    1 500 TR
    1 500 TRC
    3 750 Monza
    1 860 Monza

Four of these Ferraris are driven by US citizens: The two 166MM, a 212 Inter, and the 340 America. As for the others, one is driven by a Zambian (!), one by a Swiss citizen (yours truly), one by a UK citizen, three by Germans, and eleven by Italians.

I understand that there were more than 2000 applications for the 300+ admissions.

I will keep posting details and stories if you are interested.

    Cheers,

    Julio Batista

    Hi Julio,

As I understood (and as the people from Barchetta and Anamera stated) the field of interesting cars is low. Many many Alfa's 1900 (of course a nice car, but so many.....) and relatively low number of Ferrari's and Maserati's. Congrats you got through....I hope they allow me next year. Any tips for this?

Enjoy to the full and let us know.

PS soon some more pics about the 212 Export 0128E, currently the breaks are under repair and some more small issues.

    Ciao

Hi Oscar, I have heard the same comments, particularly on the large number of Alfas. Nevertheless, the list of accepted Ferraris is not exactly poor...

I would not be too worried about your acceptance next year; a 212 Export is a remarkable and important car, it's a Ferrari, and there are no 212 exports this year. My only advice is to sign up early with a very complete and well-thought out inscription, in particular regarding historical attachments and documentation.

I will certainly keep you posted.

Bring on the pics of 0128E!

    Cheers,

    Julio

P.S. The brakes are pretty useless anyway...

I loved that shot the first time I saw it, and it still makes me smile.

I wonder if they realize how many grown men would love to be in their place, doing exactly the same thing? Count me as one! ;)

    Thanks!

As far as I understand, there is quite some comment on the allowed cars and exclusivity of them....Is the organisation changing things (to the worse), or is just wrong point of view? anyway I hope to see you next year and your (002C) car will make the line-up quite more interesting....

And Randy, unfortunately they are more in to shoes......

    Hi,

Your timing is perfect as I got the message that at the end of the week my car is kind of ready. We renovated the breaks (obviously the car had no km's for a long time) and checked the mechanics. But for now still original so no mirrors, safety belts and so.....I will share my impressions next week as this is the first time I will be able to drive for a little longer than 20 minutes....(I hope).

    Keep you posted,

by the way, can you explain you signature??

Sounds cool - I'll definitely stay tuned to this thread for updates. It's nice to see Ferraris this old being driven.

As for my signature, the brief explanation is that it's a list of states and Interstates through which and on which I've driven, respectively. About 75,000 miles (approximately 120,675 KMs), in a car I used to own (not a Ferrari).

Lat week I was able to drive my first km's (miles) in the 0128E. As we had to wait quite some time for some parts the car was ready for its first drive. The brakes were completely done and some parts hard to get.
I drove from my mechanic's garage to the south of the Netherlands (about 150 km in total), and the car is really fun. The crashbox takes some time but is quite forgiven and the handling is fantastic. Considering a 57 year old car, I was keeping pace with traffic without problems and the family in the car following me had a hard time to keep pace.

In a (smaller) traffic jam the temp got in the 100-105 C range, God I hate tight traffic and temp problems. So a huge fan will be added.

Unfortunately the box was stuck (the same problem as mentioned before, the box is able to activate 2 gearshafts and thus is stuck, easy to repair (open the box and get one out) but not handy. Also the drivetrain shaft was broken!! (obviously some fatigue as this never happens).

So back to my mechanic on a trailer (see pic). But I dont need seat adjustment (I really fit after some gym) and the handling is real great.

I might visit one of the Dutch events in September, but my goal is to get some km's and prepare for the MM 2009 (any others planned to go like Jim (Napolis) or Julio??)

    Ciao

Personally, I think if it were mine I would drill holes and install a proper mirror. (but its not mine of course)

Cars are for driving, they were then and they are now.

    Oscar,
I had the same problem with 0137. After trying to cure the problem by mucking around with the current radiator in the car, I decided to pull it out and have a brand new one fabricated. I managed to get that done in only a few days. It was made to exactly the same measurements/specs as the original, even down too the hole for a crank. I also removed the ugly electric mounted, supplementary fan off the front of the radiator. Now I have no problems with overheating and it looks better. If you need any further info, pm me.

    Hi Warren,

    I send you a PM.
As for now the drive shaft is broken and we are remaking one. Very strange torsion (fatigue?) breakage. I will post a pic soon. The drive shafts are not available anymore so we have to remake one.

    Ciao

I feel for you. My Inter HATES traffic jams, even very small ones. I have already put a massive modern ventilator on, but the improvement is minimal.

My mechanic tells me that I should either avoid traffic jams, or build a new radiator.

Be very careful! My 60's and 70's Ferraris have tolerated water temperatures of 110 - 120 C with no problem, but the 212's radiator burst on me at 110C.

    Cheers,

    Julio
