I agree. Not sure if the euro spec 599's have launch control. If so or even if not, interesting to see how they would do from a dig. Very impressed, I was expecting the carerra gt to walk away.
Nice video, its from revlovers.com . As far As i know, Euro spec 599GTBs have Launch Control. The one I had a look at and sit in, in detail, had it.
Thanx for confirming the BIG SCROLLING TEXT at the end of the vid (couldn't resist ) Cool vid sorta, those vids try to send a negative vibe by showing useless facts like just show one aspect ie: the horsepower figure at the start, but fail to recognise that the CGT kerb weight is 300kg less and it costs double the price so can have alot more exotic materials in it's production. Dont need to be a genius to know that a lighter car will win when the power is the same.
Had the 599 won this race, it would be faster (or about as fast) than the Enzo. Which btw is an absurd idea.
Based on factory claims the CGT is around 1s faster up to 200kph (10s in case of CGT, 11s in case of 599GTB). The video is fairly consistent with these numbers. The more interesting question is how CGT and 599GTB perform above 200kph... The test results available to date (mainly the AMS high-speed tests) indicate that the 599 should be similarly fast (if not slightly faster) above 200kph. A real life test would be interesting, though.
It took until the end of the thread but I found it - "driver error"... There is also a matter of torque, gearing, rubber, hp/weight ratio, and after numerous runs I suspect most of us (even the pook guy in the car)would "learn" how to drive a car that "automatically" shifts at the limit. Best
These two are not a good match up. What would be correct is the SLR v 599 If the CGT is such a good car how come you can get a 50k Discount on new or 100k drop on slightly used.
the Carrera gt is an amazing car. Please dont put it down because it just beat the Ferrari. Honestly the reason they dont sell as well is because people want to say they own a ferrari rather then a porsche and for that kinda money you could own either. I personally love the CGT and its an amazing car look at the track times around the Ring. And i hope the driving error thing was a joke because it takes no skill to flick a finger in a straight line. I love ferraris but im a car guy come on you have to respect that car.
Nice video. But realistically they are two different types of vehicles. Both have their attributes. The real question is which of the two would you want to drive from Los Angeles to New York and back and not on the interstate.
Reminds me of this thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=130829 I wish the Carrera GT was in that test...
I completely agree on them being two different cars and it reminds me of a great quote not sure where its from or where i heard it. "Drag racing your ferrari/porsche is like taking a hooker fishing sure its fun but its not what you payed for."
In fact watch this: 599 V SLR http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GSXZqXU43k&NR Methinks Ferrari lend one very special car to the journos and quite another is sold to the public! In a recent EVO magazine test, the 2006 Gallardo posted a quicker lap around their test circuit.... Overstated power? understated weight?
Your suspicions are unfounded... The car I tested (regular car sold to end customer) did 0-125mph in 11s (thus meeting the factory claims) despite being brand-new.
That's nice to hear. Glad you duplicated factory times in a 'customer' car. I get tired of the incessant whining about 'ringer' cars being given to the press all the time.
