i don't see how anyone could pick a goofy looking 4,162 lbs. car over a 3000 lbs. enzo! even though the enzo has funny looking beak! from the rear and side the enzo is a beautiful machine!
The Veyron is really so....absolutely WRONG! I can't find any reason for its existence. It is an answer to a question absolutely nobody asked, except maybe for Herr Piech, and he clearly sometimes runs out of his anti-megalomania meds. It's very heavy, ungainly looking, useless for everyday use and absolutely not useful for anything other than stroking the egos of its buyers. The Enzo suffers from a lot of those maladies as well but it at least is a flagship model for a real car company that sells other models day in and day out (and very well too). Bugatti is just a name brand that VW acquired. The Veyron carries none of the history and heritage of the original Bugattis. It can't stand alone and it doesn't shine any light on other VW group products. It is a single car, built for no real reason and will cause VW to lose even more money than they are losing today.
Your pragmatic view of the Veyron is too capatalist for me. I compare the Veyron to the Type 41 Royale; both are totally over the top when it comes to presence and engineering: http://www.*************/VC?id=2757
Veyron! I love the Veyron. It reminds me of 30s style cars which were both fast and elegant. No disrespect to the Enzo, but it's too raw. Can there be such a thing? To me, comfort and speed go hand in hand. The Veyron is not a track car, it's not a street racer, either. It's a statement of engineering competence mixed with luxury. That's not everyone's favorite combination. Some days I prefer the 550 to the 360 for the same reason, because the 550 strives to be something more than a means of getting an adrenaline rush, even though there is probably no shortage. The Enzo, well, it's a carbon fiber nightmare for me. I've never been in one, but from what I gather and from all the pictures that I see, it is very close to F1 cars, in that being lightweight and fast are paramount and the aspect of luxury is nonexistent. Flame on, I guess. Henry
For those arguing the point of a Veyron, i guess you have already missed the point of a supercars. Supercars really have no real reasons for their existence, you can't really drive one for majority of time and they are normally nothing more than showpiece that their owners can boast about. Anyways, one thing i really like about the Veyron is the fact that it is an absolutely incredible piece of engineering, so much hardware (which i'm sure you all know so i won't list it) crammed into a footprint smaller than enzo, it is just amazing packaging and an engineering mircale.
Enzo...no question. Bugatti is only a fad, in a few years it will be just another EB 110. My .02 cents....
i spent over an hour driving the Veryon, one day in the pouring rain, interestinglying enough no steam comming off the rear bonnet/engin cover. It drives like a CL class MB and you would never know your in a fast car until you hammer it, the breaking was more amazing than the srtraight line acceleration. The guy from France who went on the test drives with me told me that the car was designed by VW to showcase their new gear box, its in 2 gears simutaniously, thus creating a 150 millisecond shift time, in other words you cant feel the car shift gears, so your awalys at the top of the power band, or in automatic mode it goes up a gear it drops one behind and grabs the next so you cant feel anything, it took me a while to figure out why this car felt different from any other car I ever drove, infact it wasnt until my second time in the car i noticed this, he cofirmed it and told me the name of the gear box, he said in 10 years or less every VW will have this technology and using the Bugatti name was a good way to promote it, because the guys buying $30k cars in a few can say I have the same technology as a million dollar car. sound marketing if you ask me. it could be used as daily driver just like a mercedes if you can afford too. its a promotion and a cutting edge car. what scared me is I asked him how many will there be he said up to 300, they can build about one car per week, if they recieve 200 orders that means 200 cars and if thats the case they will fall sharply in price if they build the whole 300 which is their plan it might hold its value. pretty dodgey if you ask me. he also added that it wasnt recieving the welcome in Europe as it was here, he attributed that to Americans likeing HP and acceleration. having said all that if I had the $$$ to buy a Veryon and an Enzo I'd pool the $$$ and get a McLaern, since I dont I bought an Enzo today, I get it Monday.
The Veyron gearbox is not made by VW its made by a british company called Ricardo - http://www.ricardo.com./media/pressreleases/pressrelease.aspx?page=27 It is like the DSG gearboxes in other VWs already.
Yeah, it's called DSG. It has been on Audi TT for a few years now, and is now even installed on the Golf GTi
What colour interior. There's an Enzo in FL, yellow with black interior. Has yellow stitched "Enzo" in the headrests. Looks spectacular! Post pics when you get your car.
Mercedes Benz CLK-GTR SuperSport Would be my pick if I had that kinda cash. Enzo over Veyron definitely though. Veyron looks don't do a thing for me.
The Veyron just doesn't really do it for me. So I would have to go with the Enzo. But that is just me.
Also, the Enzo has been crash tested a few months ago in Italy at 130Mph and the guy died. Remember ? Finally the Enzo has been produced at 400ex. The Veyron would be produced at 200ex. The Enzo is able to reach 350Kmh and the Veyron is today the only Super-Hyper-car in the world that allows you to be one of the very happy few able to enter the "I made 400" club. Faster than any F1 driver of nowadays. (and also, of the very, very, very few - but still happy - that are owners of a Veyron...). To be honest I prefer the Enzo. But it's just my humble opinion.
