dunno maybe i was on the dole at the time but many years ago for some reason i was watching Oprah. i think she was only worth $200M at the time, but during one episode she said "oh, and girlfriend (head side-movement and finger thing) how great is it when you put your jeans on after washing them and find $10 bucks in the pocket, it's like winning the lottery!" and she was kinda overacting the sincerity in that statement...
Stunning car, thanks for the photos. I can't remember the last time I saw photos from underneath an Enzo. Is there plenty of clearance (when the nose is raised), or are you going to have skid plates fitted? Also the pic with the doors open in your driveway is beautiful.
Simply STUNNING car, Mr. Haas... I believe the first Enzo I saw in California was yellow, and I'll never forget that day - I'd never seen anything quite like that in my life. Just amazing... Now - the million dollar question - what oil are you going to run in it?!
NEWS FLASH: I ran into a spool of electrical house wire yesterday evening on my way to the office. I love it when stuff falls out of the back of work trucks. Only this time I did not see it as it was a dark unlit corner. Bad news: the car ran into the guard rail with significant front end damage. The good news: it was at a relatively low speed and I was able to get almost around the corner so as to avoid trees. The bad news: the airbag did go off and gave my forearm a contusion, black and blue. The good news: The carbon fiber split into a million pieces up front including the front of the driver side fender so as to soften the blow. I am not sure what may be underneath as it was dark. In any event, a huge hassle. I will fill in the blanks as I find out more. aehaas
Ali, this is no joke, but you did mention in a previous post that Bud Root would paint the front end for you. My sympathies.
Ah crap, this is terrible. What are the chances of this happening to an Enzo, of all cars... Insurance will cover it, yes? From what you're describing it sounds like major damage... did you swerve to avoid the wire, and hit the guard rail instead? We almost need another Enzo crash thread...
I did not even see the cable at first. I thought maybe a tire blew or I hit an oil slick as I started to fishtail. I did keep it pretty much going around the curve until it straightened out but I could not quite get there. The tires were OK. I later walked back to see if there was an oil slick or something only to find this big bundle of cable all over the start of the curve. Insurance to cover it but what a hassle. aehaas
Dr Haas: First let me say how terrible I feel for your misfourtune. However I am happy that you were not more severly hurt. Cars can be repaired and I hope this all turn out okay for you. Yes some hassell but you will get by this and soon will be enjoying that wonderful car again. This board is enrichened by your posts and I hope that you will continue to share your automobile experiances although I am sure that this is one you would rather have omitted. Make it like new again and best of luck to you.
Ali... of course we ALL feel your pain here. Glad to hear you werent seriously injured. Wishing you a speedy recovery, and an equally speedy repair for the car.
Sorry to hear about that. Now you got that first good scar on it though, so you won't be afraid to really push it later. It *really* won't be a garage queen now!
Ali, glad to hear you're alright...! The Enzo can be fixed (whimper), but the driver is most important... ...hey, you're not in the Swedish mafia, are you...?
What a drag. You are meticulous in caring for the cars you work very hard to own, and someone else's carelessness ends up being your problem. Glad to hear you are not seriously hurt. Hope the repairs go well. BT
Sorry to hear about your mishap. Sounds like you are ok and that is the most important thing. I would be sick over the car and the worst part may be the time waiting for new parts. I hope you get on your feet soon.
Ali, I'm interested to hear about what exactly goes into a repair like this... I imagine you'll need all new front panels, but what happens to some of the stuff that's up front, like the electrical box that controls the hydraulic lift for the nose...? Does that whole thing have to be replaced (again)...? What else happens...?
