WOW! That may be even more insulting than when I got called "Good Ol' Dave" See when you get to be our age, all these young punks think they can just dis' all over you. Hmmm... maybe you have a cure for that? DM
Aw, c'mon, guys, i was just kidding... What's the matter, your Geritol not kicking in today...? Someone misplace your walker...? Jealous because i don't have to get up in the middle of the night to pee...?
LOL...! So are you back to the drawing board...? Why not compromise your vintage tastes with your modern tastes and get a Dino...? GET A DINO...!!!
When I was searching there was a very nice looking black 365 2+2 for sale in Houston--only $45k in spring '02--when the dealer, who was kind of ******, incidentally, told me that it had been bought from him by a guy in Mexico, driven for 6 mos., and traded back for a later model Ferrari, I let it drop right there, no further questions.
Uro, I think the ID plate originally said 330 GT/S - it was once a convertible but they grafted a roof onto it. Alternately, this is one of those fake ID plates available on E-bay. The car is really a 240 Z. Just kidding! Good luck on your search. If this isn't the one, you fill find the right car eventually. Besides, if you bought a car, we wouldn't be able to pick on you. Two things: 1) Typical Mexican standards for paint masking visit your local Earl Sheib or Maaco for additional examples. 2) A patriotic, if somewhat amateurish, attempt to transform Made in Italy to Hecho en Mexico!!!
I just talked to the fellow on the phone. I told him I can't get to Mexico City on a day's notice, so I suggested, let the auction run, if someone hits the "buy it now" , well good for him; if not I will talk to him the day after it ends about a more methodical method of inspection and purchase. BTW, it does indeed have engine 10967 in chassis 10907, I have clear photos.
Uro, You've passed on so many cars already, if this one isn't right, don't worry, another one will show up soon enough! I wonder if the mismatch of chassis numbers is a typo or legit. Are both numbers 330's? Regards, Art S.
Yes both cars are 330 GTCs. I cannot get any info on 10967 so i don't know if it was a wreck etc. I guess its possible the engine was struck with a wrong digit as it is oddly only off that one digit and maybe the workman mistook the 0 for a 6. who knows unless 10967 shows up intact. I'm not worried about this one. Tom's on the look out for me so something will turn up. Thanks for the support.
Here's another shiny one for ya. http://www.hamannclassiccars.com/listing/1967_Ferrari_330GTC.html Regards, Art S.
I talked to this gent about 3 weeks ago, car already sold, but ads persist... hmmm? He tells me he has 2 more both very....fully priced. I won't even say the numbers for fear of driving the market.
Something "funny" seems to be going on with the subject car from the original post. It was just listed on ebay again today for a one day sale, no reserve, and a starting price of $2500. The auction was yanked and it doesn't even show up on the completed auctions page (although some items take a while to show up there). The photos and description were almost identical to the original auction. To add to the intrigue, the listing seller in the new auction was neither the buyer nor the seller in the original auction. Anybody know if this is some kind of scam? Jack
