I've seen the car Jim is talking about, and I agree it's stunning.
These pictures were taken on the P540's public release at Cavallino 2010. It was commissioned by Edward Walson, son of John Walson (the inventor of cable TV) and is the second of the Special Projects programme (following Junichiro Hiramatsu's SP). Eric Clapton commissioned this car, which is based on a 458 Italia. Here shown at London's St James's Park Concours on a very dull day last September. The car was inspired by Clapton's favourite, the 512BB. It was first shown in early 2012. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
In my opinion this is not an SP car. It is just a rebodied 458 Italia. It can't be compared with the 2008 SP1 or any of the other SP cars.
Why not? Sp1 is rebodied 430. They all are rebodied exusting Ferraris. The p540 is a 599. The superamerica 45 also.

I'll paraphrase what I've written earlier, but I'm assuming it's a FF based two seater, however the roof setup confuses me. It looks like it has lines for a roof similar to an SA Aperta, however with the way the lines flow around the rear quarters it seems like it could be a folding or removable roof altogether. Anyone know? Edit: Regardles, I must say, the whole car looks like a hodgepodge of designs. It's like they wanted all sorts of things and features and just threw them all in. The overall paint scheme doesn't do it any favors, either.
Agreed...Of the SP cars, I only like (not love) the P540 Superfast. The Clapton, 599 Kalikov or SP1 are not really beautiful. They are interesting to look however. Would love to see the other ones though.
Interesting array of shapes. A little Warshawsky here and there doodad-wise. Dig the Rangers hockey glove interior. A suitably atypical one-of-one - bet it'd be fun to check out in the metal.
You misspelled Interesting. I think you mean to write ''Hideous''. I really like the Arya and the P4/5 (but that's not SP). Really want to see the one that's done on the 599 that no one has seen though.
A Camaro rear end . . . some rejected flying buttresses from an old 599 model . . . the 599 Alonzo paint scheme . . . and a California front quarter panel. Mix it all together, and I think I'd puke if I saw it in person.
No PF as Ferrari P 4/5 by Pininfarina recognised officially by Ferrari but both were built before Ferrari stated their SP's. BTW PF used the term SP (Special Projects) before Ferrari did.
These are the ones i know. MM FFX SP12EC SP america P540 Superfast SP1 F12 TRS SP 275 RW Comp 599 Super America 45 Anyone knows of others? Pictures?
11 are listed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari#Ferrari_Special_Projects I uploaded those pics of P540 and SP275RW. Edit: Pics of SP30 I think were posted in this thread. I saved them offline and they definitely came from Fchat.
I wouldnt consider the J50 as an SP Car as it's a limited run for Japan. So there are 10 known SP Cars so far.
