Where's it state the 500K? With today's pricing their dreaming if true. They can't sell all they make currently.

"By 2020, he estimates, Porsche could quadruple its sales, to as many as 500,000 cars a year, leveraging Volkswagen-driven plans to launch a small sport utility vehicle and other models. Last year, Porsche sold nearly 119,000 cars, more than half of which were Cayenne SUVs and Porsche’s Panamera sedans."

They obviously see the world economy improving...

A lot of population estimates show a growth of around 500m between now and 2020 and China's upper middle class is growing very fast.

So its not completely unreasonable that Porsche could pull that off

Cayannes are tremendously popular in China...maybe because so many of the roads are in poor condition.

Still though, 500K is a huge number to sell at current Porsche prices.

WE sahll see.

By my rough calculation,... they'll need to release a 911 special edition every day.

The only way to pull that off is make a cheapy version for volume, which would cannibalize the brand. VW has a stigma as a kinda blah volume brand as it is. They can dream though

Don't they already share a lot of parts and platforms? Porsche really shot itself in the foot when they tried to takeover VW, but then got a successful reverse takeover attempt on them.

WE sahll see.
I could see Cayenne sales getting them somewhere near that high given China, although probably the hybrid version given their air quality crisis there.

Still... kind of a reach unless they ramp up production capacity in Asia.
