Alternate supercars

Hello, Im checking to see if other F car owners have spent any time in a 997 version
( 2007-2011) Porsche 911 turbo. Ive been giving some thought to trying the P brand for LAP or so. I very much enjoyed my current f430 and former 360, but hear great things about the 911 turbo. Most of which is the everyday user aspect, with comparible performance and perhaps less service. Any thoughts shared by current or former owners would be nice,\

THX

Mike

Had a 2010 911 Turbo....It is a great car - Stupid fast, rides on rails, and very reliable.

Unfortunately it is as boring and uninvolving as a car of this caliber can get.

Traded mine for a Scud and can't wipe the sh*t ass grin off my face....like night and day.

Thats my daily driver. Great car. I think its quicker than the 360 and 430, perhaps even the 458 at altitude. Probably cant push it as hard in the turns and still feel as confident about it due to the rear weight bias, and the fact I run snow tires on mine. The tiptronic tranny is a downgrade from the F1.

Mine has been pretty wallet friendly maint-wise, just normal stuff. It can eat brakes and they're spendy because Porsche changes rotors and pads, so expect about $1200 for a set of (2) brakes.

It has its advantages over the fcar, especially for a dd, doesn't get as much attention.

So is the turbo a replacement for the scud?
I would keep the scud and drive a normal car for a dd if the scud doesn't work for you as the dd.

I had a 997 turbo. Agree with the above. The turbo acceleration is intoxicating. But the 4 wheel drive with Pasm was lacking in "excitement.". When you tell it to do something stupid, it says " no, let's do this instead.". I traded for a gt3 and when I tell it to do something stupid it says " really? Okay."

I have owned 39 Porsches 4 Ferrari's and a Gallardo, the Ferrari's and the Lambo (coverted to RWD) are gone, I will always have a Porsche. As far as the turbo (or any AWD in my opinion, unless it is a SUV Sedan or pickup truck) if it cannot be conveted to RWD it should be used to build houses for the poor. Any 997tt can easily be converted to RWD (I did that with every Porsche AWD car I bought) not expensive and the fun factor goes way up.
