Guy Fieri's Lambo stolen from British Motors SF

http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/201...co-dealership/

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) – In a heist fit for Hollywood, a thief rappelled into a San Francisco car dealership early Tuesday morning and made off with a top-of-the-line sports car.

The swashbuckling crook apparently climbed over rooftops, hooked up a climbing rope and slipped in a window of the Bentley, Lamborghini, Lotus dealership. All that was left behind was a bag of mountaineering gear.

Don't look at me, I just report the news.

Why a high-profile car belonging to a reality TV celebrity? Was it there for service?

Was the whole thing a setup?

Seems like it would be difficult to fence and hardly rare enough or even valuable enough to justify the risk.

I think it maybe a publicity stunt or a REPO.
Of all the cars that were there, why not steal a PL640 or LP670??

Why leave the climbing gear behind unless you wanted it found.

Why did they need to Rappell into the place and then scurry around looking for keys.
Hey, don't they keep they keys locked up at night?

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5 / KCBS) – In a heist fit for Hollywood, a thief rappelled into a San Francisco car dealership early Tuesday morning and made off with a top-of-the-line sports car.
The swashbuckling crook apparently climbed over rooftops, hooked up a climbing rope and slipped in a window of the Bentley, Lamborghini, Lotus dealership. All that was left behind was a bag of mountaineering gear.
The thief then made for a yellow and black 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo, which just happens to be owned by celebrity chef Guy Fieri, who lives in Santa Rosa. After cutting the lock to the dealership’s garage door, the burglar disappeared into the night.

KCBS’ Bob Melrose Reports:
Celebrity’s $200K Lamborghini Stolen In Daring San Francisco Heist
Car dealers said it may be difficult to sell the car with a distinctive bumblebee paint job. One speculated that the crook may try to get the vehicle out of the country. That job may prove even more risky than rappelling into the dealership.

Just cant get the old "cop" out of me after 11 years of service..so thinking out loud here..

Business not good...get low life to steal car for $5k, hide for 30 days, get Haggerty agreed value of $275K pay out...done with loss of value.

I mean really..WHO THE hell takes that specific OLDER car, when there was a lot better choices inside to take....?

In ALL my experiance...when a certain item is targeted..there is more to it..

Could be that the G was the only one with the keys in it. And/or the only one parked near the exit (without having to move other cars around.) Or, it could be an inside job, with the rappeling gear/bolt-cutters just a diversion.

Will be interesting to see if this car is ever found.

Many possibilities here as to what happened. In my eyes, I see it as a location I would never leave my car.

No way it's a repo...first off it's public as to HOW the car was taken...so right away that rules out repo...can't commit a crime in the course of a repossession and breaking and entering is certainly a crime.

Those tv shows are a joke and NOTHING like the real repo business is...I cannot even watch the shows because of the number of laws broken with every single repo they show, not to mention it's all actors and staged repo's. The repo business is boring after 200 or so, just another car with another VIN on it.

But no way at all that this was a repo. Inside job, or similiar to what Roy suggested is most likely...I'd even venture to guess that the keys for the car are still locked up and the car left with the "extra" key....but that's just me speculating.

Will be interesting to see how it unfolds.
