The guy with the red car loves him some Red Lobster. I used to see it parked actually in the entrance many times. The white car I saw once out by the mall, but only passing me going the opposite way.

Does anyone know of a red/tan car that was in the unincorporated N. Atl (now Sandy Springs) are during the early 90's? It was either sold or he stopped driving around 94'ish... I think the guy has a nice later white Pantera now, but not sure..

Curious if the red injected car was spotted around Ponce as well. I am apparently in no CT land now, so if anyone knows of any with plans to attend a show please PM me. I'm starting to go through withdraw

Wow, auction fury...

So, I was wrong, this just barely crested the bottom of their range ($650k). Convenient...ha!

Joe, was this all in (fees, etc)?

I watched some of the Mecum auction, and a 275 and a 365 Spyder roll across, both no sale. IIRC, the 275 bid around $1.15M, and the Daytone $1.25M? It seems to me that Monterey has become so hyped (for good reason) that the sellers are looking for top retail bid before the buyer pays their own side of the fees. Now, I'm not really an F car guy to gauge whether or not these seem like reasonable bids or reserves, but the entire market seems toppy to me, and, dare I say it, I think we will see yet another pretty significant correction very soon. Is it turning into a contest to see who can bid the most, rather than being about the cars themselves? I think so.

If I had one of these cars, I'd cash out quick.

I think you did very well in your estimate. Yes, as told to me, this is an all-in number.

Most likely, prices are adjusted for the decrease in the value of money.

Forgot to mention, it does in fact stay in the USA with a discriminating collector who has waited a very long time for a restored example.

The orange Countach was my favorite car at Gooding. It seemed to be a fantastic restoration.

The auctioneers commented that this was a new record-high price ever paid for a Countach- is that true?

From the website of gooding: "Please note that, in addition to the final bid price and Buyer’s premium, the Buyer of this lot will be responsible for paying an additional 2.5% of the final bid price to cover duties paid on the import of the vehicle into the US."

So the US collector paid USD 660k plus 2.5% for this car.

I dont think the wheels is the most worrysome here... What's up with thoses exhausts!!!??? A real man needs 24 tips (2 per cylinder). 12 is for sissies.
Can someone photoshop this to 24 tips please? Now this would be an unmolested $999K, all original restored example, I am sure.

EDIT: Oh, I am sure we could also put one of the guys from thge Dumb and Dumber movie when they get ouot of the Diablo in their unique clothing in there too..

From my records it would be...prior to that my LP400 Periscopa...which left the country was a high sale at $600K plus.

I do not know if Joe has the same contact or person at the Auction house that speaks to me quite often as well...but the $660K covered ALL in costs, buyer premium, import taxes as well as enclosed shipping from Monterey to owners new location.

My contacts would be David Gooding himself & Garth Hammers.

The car will be based on the East Coast of the USA.

The sticking point in this sale was the 2.5%, but there are special circumstances in every deal. This price was the highest achieved for a Countach at auction. It is not the highest achieved by a Countach in private sale by a significant margin.
