Paul, I believe it is only sharing AWD components, not the chassis, which should remain a dedicated Rear Wheel Drive platform but becoming AWD with the Hybrid Components.

That is not it, what was shown to the dealers was a gray coupe that looked like the convertible in the new Robert Downey movie "The Avengers".

That's the Honda HSC (Honda Sports Coupe). It was displayed at the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show. I think the world wanted it to the next NSX, but it was never built which is sad, bc it looks awesome. If you Google it, there is plenty of info and pics.

If it looked anything like that, it'd be awesome!

That doesn't look particularly NSX-like... there aren't many throw-backs to the previous model so doesn't look like it has much of the same "DNA", which is a bit of a shame. Does that make any sense?

All the best,
Andrew.

Andrew, it is better than what originally was going to be a front engine V10 car. Wait till January 9, I think it will be a nice surprise, according to my dealer pal.

A clay model of the new NSX will be at the Detroit show this January. I don't think it will be at the Huston show...

OK, I'll reserve judgement for now then.

All the best,
Andrew.

I've heard rumors of a hybrid drivetrain, any info? I'm hoping for a good old combustion engine without all the BS.

Interesting discussions ongoing on NSX prime for those following the soon to launch NSX2/HSC. Pixs and rumors from dealers who attended a recent unveiling. great info. It will be exciting but also pricey as compared to first generation. More a competiton against the R8 and not Porsches/Ferraris. As an 91 NSX owner, I very much look forward to another long awaited breakthrough from Honda. But doubt very much if the owners can step up to the new MSRP. If the car is a success like the '90 launch, it will sell well above MSRP for the first year due to limited supply if they are all hand built at the dedicated facility as before.

Now I'm sad, but I'll reserve judgment until I see it/see performance specs.

This is actually a concept picture from 2003.

This exact picture was in this month's Modified magazine (January 2012 issue) in the Spinout section. It stated that the next NSX is rumored to be a 400hp all wheel drive vehicle with a v6 in the back and two hybrid electric motors in the front to power the front wheels.

It sounds interesting

Acura NSX Concept portends an efficient hybrid supercar

http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/09/a...-detroit-2012/

Quote:
...
Acura NSX Concept
The dynamically-styled NSX Concept gives an indication of the next great performance vehicle from the Acura brand. Making use of lightweight materials and a mid-mounted V-6 engine, the NSX Concept employs several new technologies for Acura, including application of Acura's innovative new Sport Hybrid SH-AWD® (Super Handling All Wheel Drive™) hybrid system.

Utilizing a unique 2 Electric Motor Drive Unit with a Bilateral Torque Adjustable Control System, the all-new hybrid all-wheel-drive system can instantly generate negative or positive torque to the front wheels during cornering. Acura anticipates the new Sport Hybrid SH-AWD® will deliver handling performance unmatched by previous AWD systems. In addition to the handling benefits of the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD® system, a powerful next-generation VTEC® V-6 engine with direct-injection works in concert with a dual clutch transmission with built-in electric motor to create supercar acceleration while offering outstanding efficiency.

"This Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system will make NSX the ultimate expression of Acura's idea to create synergy between man and machine," said Takanobu Ito, president and CEO of Honda Motor Co., Ltd. "The NSX will make the driver one with the car to enhance dynamic driving abilities without getting in the way."

While most supercars opt for brute force delivered from a large engine, the NSX Concept champions the true racing philosophy of an extremely favorable power-to-weight ratio.
"Like the first NSX, we will again express high performance through engineering efficiency," added Ito, who led the development of Acura's first NSX supercar. "In this new era, even as we focus on the fun to drive spirit of the NSX, I think a supercar must respond positively to environmental responsibilities."

The new Acura supercar, expected to debut in the next three years, will be developed by an engineering team led by Honda R&D Americas, Inc., and manufactured in Ohio, at a yet to be named facility.
