I recognize the wheels. Got them on my car as well. The logo in the hub is IMHO deliberately distorted to avoid TM infractions. Easy to replace with a real logo.

I really could care less about this genre of motordom, but it's also been a point of curiosity to me how the rice-a-roni crowd will pour $50k in modifications into a Civic or what have you and then set it in a specific run against (insert target-du-jour in this case,) a bone-stock Viper and then they jump up and down in their new-found braggadocio thinking their Civic can now beat all Vipers/target-du-jours.
Do we ever see these "contests" where a modified rice-a-roni goes against a modified exotic? Unh-unh.
Double standard or just let's-root-for-the-underdog at any cost, nevermind that cars -- like people's educational/intellectual levels -- too have leagues that they sometimes find themselves in and out of?

I say all this and I don't even like Vipers. lol

civics are a waste of time and money regardless of how fast they are its still a honda just like its still a Viper if it beats a Veyron so it doesn't matter really.

Buy an Ultima GTR, nobody can play with you at the track unless somebody shows up with an F-1car. The best part about kits is you don't have to fallow standards or rules like with all other cars out there, you build it how you want.

I'm starting to think that way myself.

I came across an older Topgear show where Clarkson drove a blue "kit" car. Must have been like the predecessor to the Ultima. It is built in South Africa and equipped with a British engine, then two turbos added. He claims the sucker basically outruns and outdrives a McLaren. How's that for exotic killer? He loved everything about it, how it looked, how it handled, how it responded, how well it was made. It really got me drooling. Now to think that you take a beast like that to the track and eat up Ferraris would be a real blast.

However I still wonder how an average driver like me would fair in an Ultima GTR vs somebody (likely more talented) in a modern F430 with stability, brake and traction controls turned on. I think they'd still smoke me by a mile. Comments?

An Ultima shouldn't as unfriendly as the modren day exotics after all its got a Small Block Chevy for power(Unless you go with a diffrent driveline) even with oh 700hp it should be driveable. I have actually thought about not buying a Diablo and going with this because I could build a 1000hp daily driver that will smoke turbo busas all day long, dominate the track and the strip, get the groceys in, drive to work and even go on a date in the same car and still be as practical as any Corvette on the road and maintaince wouldn't cost me a forthane like many other modern day Supercars. The greatest part about kitcars if you go racing is if your beat by some highly modified Supra or something like that you can take his same setup and use it against him its like there's an EVO out there that beat the Ultimas 0-200mph record does anyone at the ulitma factory seem to care? heck no if they wanted the record back they would just use that same evo as a donor car and build something even nasty than the evo. Most people say to me the Ultima isn't as sexy as any modren day supercar nor comfrable as a veyron and well needless to say you can fab your own body kit to make it more attractive because its a kitcar, there's no rules and regs and no standards so you can do as you wish. Same with the interior iam sure the guys at Unique autosport could mock up a nice interior for me at a small price to fit my body frame and my needs and iam sure will would want to do some rims and a system that would be more exclusive than any modren day supercar on top of that.

Iam not saying the Ultima is the best damn car ever made but you can make it whatever you want it to be cause its a kitcar. there was never a standard for it or a production model for it so the sky is the limit with a kit. I know I could build something better and faster than the SSC and veyron in my own garage from an Ultima.

Your the one who clueless about this car and those who have the ignorant mindset of "Its just a kitcar" as no clue what this car is capable of. Just because its not a world class supercar like the Veyron or Carrera GT doesn't mean its a fiero with a fiberglass bodykit oh no this is the kind of car you get Veyron like performance with the practicalitly of a Corvette and the price of a Porsche 911. The pride in building something from the ground up that can laugh at the Veyron and SSC or anything that challenges you at the track is more priceless than building a highly modifed CRX to beat a bone stock Lamborghini from a 70mph roll.

It is better than a supercar, it is a street legal racecar. The Auto Motor Sport video mentions it is the fastest car in the world (although I believe that honor goes to the Caparo T1). Top Gear mentions the world record it holds for 0-100mph-0 in 9.8 sec.

It does 0-60 mph in 2.7 and reaches a top speed of 360 km/h.

Still I'd like to see this car in a wheel to wheel comparison to say an Enzo around Fiorano or any other race track: My feeling is, that you need to be Michael Schumacher to control this monster that has no driver aids. An Enzo with all aids turned on probably still beats it, simply because this thing has probably a hard time getting the power on the ground. When you watch the airport acceleration run you see how the driver has to make corrections to the steering as he accelerates.

Come to think of it: Makes me wonder how hard it would be to come up with a generic stability control, TC or ABS for kit cars? As long as you don't include the engine and do it all through controlling the brakes, it shouldn't be that hard. Not as efficient as a standard one, but probably better than having nothing. Some gyro chips could figure out the lateral movement for the stability control and regular wheel sensors for wheel spin/lock up. The small Vette engine is so widespread, it might even make sense to design one, that interfaces the engine's ECU. The technology is here, it is more of a matter to adapt it to generic cars.

I doubt you would need Michael Shumacher to drive this car hard although it would perform at its best.

It would really depend on the setup because again its a kitcar and there's 350 hp LT1 powered Ultimas out there. I have even seen a Grand National powered Ultima, very nasty and would put a beating on the T1. I think the only way you'll get a photo finish race between an Enzo and an Ultima and thats if its got an LS6 motor with a borla exhaust, headders and ports. Otherwise it would be a slaughter house to anything less of an Enzo unless somebody brought the Venom 1000TT and even then the Viper couldn't out corner it.

Id really like to see how it does against the Factory Five GTM someday with the LS7 motor setup.

Your best bet for a sablitly control is to use it out of the donor car which you use. Wether it be the Corvette, evo, Supra, lexus or Grand National. Its going to be very difficult to add that addition to this kind of kit but I think it would be very possible with alittle money and hardwork. I have seen the set up in a couple Lamborghini replicars where they barrowed it from a Porsche boxster and used it on the tube chassis but it was very diffcult and expensive. Its best to see if there's somekind of aftermarket application out there where you can do from scratch and you won't have to deal with any trouble codes or having to call the factory of your donor car and them giving you a bunch of crap because your using there guts in another body . Someone has to offer an aftermarket application for it.
