Ferrari Market Letter

The lastest Ferrari Market Letter just arrived and I found it very interesting. Besides the great articles they have, such as the one I wrote in the previous issue on my P 3/4 chassis 0846 ( ) they really have a lot of very interesting market information.

This week has a very good article on the Monoco Auction results and you can learn what a 250 GTO replica brought and compare it with similar offerings. I was amazed by the number of 458's for sale and well as the 4 599 GTO's on offer. Whatever Ferrari you're interested in there's sale information on it somewhere within.

Buying any Ferrari is a serious undertaking and knowledge is power.

Well done and interesting.

I really love the story of 0846. I never attempted to read the thread here. It's a great car story. I repeated it to a friend already.

I love FML and am very happy to see it is forging ahead. I still get it in paper though.

I'm always happy to see it.

PS. I just got some comp Daytona wheels from the classifieds.

are they still placing the value of excellent 365 GT4 2+2's at $35-38K ?

if so, i welcome all leads (or even 1) that they can provide...

with the exception of that very obvious inaccuracy, they do good work and i hope they keep it up.

I'm glad they are doing well and hope they continue to do so, however that publication did not help me in the least when I was searching for my car. I subscribed for a year.

We have subscribed to FML since 1977; and indispensable resource for the Ferrari historian. when I was in the market for a vintage Ferrari 12 years ago, I was able to call Gerald who promptly sent me every appearance my future car had ever had in the FML; and there were several.

The "asking price index" is not intended to reflect "market value" as FML explains every couple of years. The data FML obviously has is asking prices, not actual sales prices. The index simply shows general market trends.

I've always been curious, though, where they are getting the asking prices from. Usually asking prices are optimistic, and the ones in the FML are usually lower than what one would think the cars are currently "worth". Maybe lumping all of the cars in very marginal condition brings the average down, but it would be nice to have more of an explanation from FML. I guess I shouldn't complain, since I've never asked for one....
