"old" Ferrari photos

I have so many old shots of Ferraris I thought if there was any interest I'd scan & post some from years gone by.

This first set is a 512 M owned by Manfred Lampe back in the late '70'-early '80's.

The quality of the shots is not very good, but this is all I've got from that era.

In photo #3 of post 2, standing on the right side of the car, is a very young Bob Houghton, a very talented mechanic who used to work for Clarke's Graypaul Motors and later opened up his own shop. Still very active today.

Yes P4 0856 painted by Ferrari as a clone of the 24 Hour of Daytona Winner P 3/4 0846 which of course it wasn't when they sold it even thought they told him it was.

Swiss privateer Herbert Müller sold #1036 in Can-Am Spider configuration on the 5th January 1977 to Manfred Lampe. In 1978/79 Lampe and Wayne Sparling rebuilt #1036 back into 512 M Berlinetta configuration, and Manfred kept his car first in USA, then he had it airfreighted from USA to Germany in 1987, then imported to England in 1992 where Bob Houghton Racing of Northleach, Gloucestershire, overhauled the engine. Lampe still owns it today.

WOW,thanks so much for all the information!!! I knew there would be answers.

I remember Manfred saying that he had converted his car after it had been in an accident. But I couldn't remember if it had started life as an S or an M.That car sounded awesome.

1036 was born as a 512 S Berlinetta and used by the factory for testing and as a back-up car. On the 20th June 1970 the factory sold it to Jacques Swaters’ Garage Francorchamps SA, Brussels, Belgium, factory delivery note #16655 (together with two other 512 chassis #1024 and #1026). Swaters re-sold 1036 to Solar Productions, Steve McQueen's Hollywood/CA-based company which produced the movie "Le Mans". On the 10th December 1970 Solar sold it to Swiss privateer Herbert Müller. He had it converted into 512 M Berlinetta, then into Can-Am Spider configuration with a cut-down windshield, using engines of 5 and 7 liter displacements, and then he entered 1036 in the Can-Am series in USA and Canada. As mentioned above, Müller sold 1036 on the 5th January 1977 to Manfred Lampe.

Maybe one of the mods can blend these two threads into one. You know the 1974 Auto show thread with all of its pics...

Well, the one here is not really old. Only about 31 years. I took it in France in September 1981 (most of the fchatters weren't even born back then.......). 3505 GT and 3909 GT both owned by the Harrison Bros. from the UK, at the time.
