What's everyone drinking?

With a lunch thread, dinner thread, etc. I figured, why not a "what are you drinking?" thread!

I just opened a 2008 Arizona Stronghold Red Blend "Nachise" (52% Syrah 27% Grenache 15% Petite Sirah 6% Mourverdre)- picked it up because I had never had anything from the region, and my wine merchant said it was "interesting". At first taste it wasn't impressive but after an hour or so it has opened up to some complexity and almost like a nice Italian Sangiovese.

When I get home, it will be a 12 year Yamazaki. If you haven't tried it and are a whiskey drinker, you will love it. They also have it in an 18 year. It is a Japanese whiskey and is very smooth. it is my "go to" drink over the rocks.

I've been on a Bourbon/Scotch kick lately. Just finished my hand selected Buffalo Trace, great middle of the road Bourbon. Working on an Ancient Ancient Age 10 Year (also from Buffalo Trace), great mixer but also good on the rocks or neat. Also working on a Highland Park 8 year - young but pretty easy drinking for a scotch. The highlight is a Parker Beam 25th Golden Anniversary - simply put.....epic.....best Bourbon I've ever had. If you can find it, buy it.

I always think about getting into the Japanese whiskey, glad to hear it's tasty. I'll add it to the list!

Nothing, I give up booze for Lent. And this year it's worse; I always remember the 'forty days of Lent', but a few weeks ago I found out that the Church doesn't count Sundays during Lent as 'days'. So it's really forty six days-and it seems longer, even though it's the same for me as years past!

If they cheat, you're allowed to, too. Get drunk as hell on Sundays.

Man oh man! This thread sure fell off the deep-end.

Lately I've been drinking Negroni's: 1 part, Gin (North Shore Gin No. 6) 1 part, Sweet Vermouth, 1 part, Campari, Splash of Bitters, garnish with Orange or Grapefruit twist. It's getting me into the Spring mood

Negroni's are my go to summer drink, not bitters for me though.

Cook's California champagne. $6.95 per 1.5 liter bottle at Sam's Club, and tastes as good to me as Moet at $35 per .75 liter bottle.

Wow - Pleading total ignorance as I never knew there was such a thing as Japanese whiskey. Thanks for averting me stating my apparent ignorance in public :-)

The Japanese as well as the Chinese, LOVE whiskey. I found while I was in Shanghai for a bit that most of the Bars/Lounges/Clubs all heavily promoted various whiskeys - Johnny Walker being a biggie. While I find in the States and elsewhere, the emphasis is on Vodkas. Just my 2 cents .

Oh yeah, currently drinking, a Bells Oberon Ale (seasonal summer wheat ale), it's simply delicious.

Woodford Reserve, either neat or 1 to 2 ice cubes at most.

The best bourbon i've ever had, lived in kentucky, adjacent to bourbon county for 5 years, toured a few disilleries. LOVE this bourbon.

I am enjoying a couple of fingers of 15 yo Balvenie single barrel. A nice way to end the day.
