Kyosho Ferrari 308 GTS

I picked this one up a few months ago. The Ferrari 308 GTS has always been a favorite of mine since the first time I saw it on Magnum P.I.

It's too bad Kyosho didn't release a version of it with the tan interior with the black vent above the headlights.

I agree

I had waited since the 80's to find a decent large scale model of the 308 GTS. Finally Kyosho answered the call. And yet, as good a model that it is, I was underwhelmed by it when I got it. Sure, I wanted an 84-85 USA spec car with tan interior. Instead we get a euro 83 car. Of all flavors of the 308qv, that's the one spec I least like to "look" at. There is a company (an Fchat sponsor, I think) that will custom paint your model to the spec you want. I inquired what it would be to paint it like the US car and they said something like $500. Probably very worth it if the quality is high.

Nevertheless, I can live with all that, but the accuracy of the model is a bit off. This bothered me a lot more than the other stuff. There is no reason for it considering the fact that it's billed as a "higher" end model. How hard is it for a model manufacturer to get the basic shape of a car right? Obviously, a 308 has a bunch of complex curves, but that's what computers are for, right? To see what I mean, do a search for a profile shot of a 308 and compare it with the profile of the model - it's not even close!

Still, I like having this model as I finally got my red 308QV in 1/18 scale! ;-)

My opion ! A cheap Bburago 288 GTO or its HW successor resembles the original - and 308 GTB shape a lot more better than those Kyosho models. I was really disappointed and though having the 1:1 original the Kyosho GTB only has a place in the back of my display cabinet with looking at the rear view, which is justifiable, but NEVER the front view.
They did a really great job on their Daytonas. But the 308 and BB cars did fail.

Best Regards from Germany

Martin

My 1/18 Ferrari 308 328 GTB QV GTS collection.

It's getting harder and harder to find all the Ferrari 308.328 now since KYOSHO got no licence for making Ferrari models.
All the photos were shot 2 year ago when I get my first 308 GTS.
There were also 3 Anson 328 GTS with the fair quality and I get my Kyosho 328 GTS last year finally.

Very nice mate!!

I am a lucky boy. I just scored the Kyosho-

328 GTB
328 GTS
308 GTB QV
512 TR

They are ALL red and should have them all next week.

I just need to chase the 308 GTB and the 308 GTS QV.

I used to think of those Anson models as junk, but now you see so many of them in the $75 - $150 range.
Still like the Kyosho's the best, but still Anson diecast have been going up in value the last 15 years....and my original opinion has changed. Nice collection!

I thought the Kyosho 308 was a pretty darn nice model. Bought a red GTB version as a present, and sure seemed to me like the proportions were very close.
Would love to get a GTS QV to match my 1:1 car, but prices on these are quite a bit higher than the GTB (like $150) on Ebay. Almost bought one last weekend at the FCA event for $100 but decided the money would be better spent on maintenance for the real car...

Here's the case I put the GTB in:

thanks - the case is an Ebay find for around $20, and overall I'm happy with it considering the price.

The plastic sheet that the car sits on is pretty thin however, so I considered (and should have) super-glued a reinforcing strip under. It sags just a bit.
The base also needed a couple extra rubber feet since the 4 that came with it were stuck to the extreme edges.

But other than that it does make a very nice, affordable presentation box. The clear part/mirror is optically very straight and nicely shaped.

The guy I gave it to absolutely loved it, and put it on prominant display in his Ferrari shop.
cheers
