My Garage
22ple glass coating

I know it is not polite to dual post but here is a video of water beading on my California after having Esoteric Detail put the glass coating on over two months ago. Washed it tonight and could not believe how good it is still, it is supposed to last up to two years. Remember this is a daily driver with 12,000 miles now.

I use AutoGlym. Is this significantly better?

There is such a wide range of products available, hard to know which to choose

http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/cat_4.html

It looks like there is a new type of category of "wax" called glass coatings

http://www.autopia.org/forum/car-det...-coatings.html

And I found a product called optiguard which is ceramic based

http://www.optimumcarcare.com.au/pro...rotection.html

I guess this is the reason I had just relied on the experts local to me to pick and use the best products lol

I wonder how optiguard compares to the glass coating products

A good test of optiguard
http://www.autopia.org/forum/car-det...st-review.html

And it's available to the public, it's a different product called opticoat 2.0

http://www.autogeek.net/optimum-opti-coat.html

I'm going to ask the guys that detail my car about it

I'm definitely going to remove my wax and get a coating installed

I'm probably going to go with Optiguard

I was t aware there was such a breakthrough in coating technology

My car is not a daily driver and I enjoy detailing it.

My question is does 22ple offer that much more protection than regular waxing?

I understand that it does form a hard resin like finish, but I find it hard to believe that it's going to protect against a scratch or rock chip.

It not designed to protect it from obstacles hitting the paint, it's designed to protect it from the environment and buildup on the paint surface.

I like detailing my car(s) as well and use the best products as I'm sure that we all do, it just provides that much more protection like another clear coat....
