Is this true? If so it could possibly be my favorite car ever. That is of course without every driving a f1 or DCT ferrari. I have drive DCT M3 and SMG BMWs because I sold them for 7 years. I am suire they are not as good as in the ferrari. I do prefer the manual transmission in the M3. Also prefer it to SMG (even though its slower) as for new M5 I would get manual as well. I would love to drive a gated ferrari. Its always been a dream of mine which could be the reason I always say I would take manual over F1 or DCT.

Really? Is this a Ferrari guarantee that they will replace it if it breaks? I'm curious more than anything else, as this has certainly not been true with out-of-warranty repairs on F1 transmissions in the past.

My Garage
There is no extended warranty on the transmission, 3 years, unlimited miles as in the rest of the car. The clutches are "good for the life of the car" meaning that you don't need to worry about clutch replacement, even for those of us that actually drive them hard.

although I love the F1 transmission, I would also love to drive a gated Ferrari, perhaps just once. of the 6 people I have offered to have a drive of my car, 3 of them answered "I can't drive a stick." if my own circle of experience is any indication, the public perception seems to lag behind Ferrari's essential obsolescence of the manual transmission.

Never liked the california but if I came across one in a manual and I could swing it I'd scoop it up in a heartbeat.

Nothing like a gated shifter. Every time I hear that clank I smile.

I also own a 550 ferrari which has the gated shifter as all did and on it the manual transmission cannot be beat . However for my California there is only one way to go in my mind an that is the excellent DCT the sound of my California shifting at redline makes my day every time I drive . To me that is the only way to go on a California.
By the way I love both cars equal they are different feel sand both are great. and I can only dream of shifting the 550 as fast as the cali does.

The gated shifter is quirky, and definitely more challenging to shift quickly, but what a delight. As it was said, no way you can come even close to an F1, and even less close to a DCT, but it's a heck of a lot more fun IMO. And unless you have to make a living racing your car, or have something to prove, I much prefer a manual on the sports cars. But I also agree a DCT belongs on the Cali, which is a GT car. Will always miss the manual on the 430. It was awesome to drive it in the mountains, even though at a slower pace than if it was F1.

Gated 430 must have been a dream to drive.

Yes, it was. Clutch was great, and the Graziano tranny is probably the best in the world. The only possible issue with manuals is the plastic reverse bushing, but Ricambi sells an aluminum one that supposedly solves that issue. Bought one as a precaution, but never installed it (wasn't cracked... yet! ). Need to sell it, by the way.
