And Dean also collected his car yesterday with a brand new Forza diff. The first one on the road I believe and from all accounts it drives perfectly.

Hey Mel

Wow your story is similar to ours although we have a Testarossa with 56k km.
First gear struggled to go in when the car was hot but it wasn't such a major issue, then there was a leak and we took the car to Lamborghini to check it out( the guy from Lamborghini worked for Ferrari at a time). So the leak was just a seal on the diff that wasn't too serious although very costy, so we asked him to have a look at the box, turned out there was quite a few problems. We searched for a box and found one for about 12 000$ excluding import to South Africa, we didn't take that option instead the box was then sent to Ferrari South Africa to refurbish the whole box I will cost us a bit more than 20 000$ for the whole story. While we are busy doing this we've basically restored the car as well. The car has been standing since Dec last year at the workshop, we expect to get it back in a months time

Regards

Close-ups from my 512TR gearbox disaster with collapsed OEM Ferrari diff and Crown and Pinion (C&P)...........

The play/ moving of diff parts caused the C&P wear and collaps.

It was repaired at a price of total $ 15000; no more OEM F diff and C&P were used ...

Hey Mel

We expect to get the gb back some day now and luckily the diff wasn't damaged. The problem wasn't that bad, we actually only took it for the leak and then discovered the broken gears. I'll upload some pics of the gears for you when I upload it onto my iPad, but here's some recent pics from the workshop

Jesse maybe, while the gb is still out ... why not upgrade the diff now to prevent bad things, because they WILL happen anyhow in near future ?

I had no idea that the UFI filter for a TR is different from one for a 512TR.

The one for a 512TR (see photos) is shorter and has another number .... just FYI ...
