Thank you for your post

Thanks Lee.

I actually sold the LS for our local dealership. The gentleman lived in SC, and was having it remotely delivered to a dealership local to him.

The good dealerships deserve to make the bucks. Our local shop may not be fancy, but most of the people there have been there for 5-15 years, and they will treat you right.

On the other hand, greedy dealerships who determine the price of the new car on the vehicle you drove in in................... deserve to be called out. I would complain to the GM of the dealership about your treatment by said greedy salesman. You could save someone else the pain.

Sorry, but stories like that just really annoy me................ and I don't have any affiliation with any dealership. LOL

I'm sure you will find you the car you want with the options at a decent price. Until then, I think you could get by with what you got to drive.

Best of luck with the search. Isn't that half the fun?
Troy sob I guess I can But I will get one someplace at some time.

One of my car buddies said something funny to me. he said " if I was you I would go back into your car storage area and look around. You may find one back in a dark corner that you forgot about and didn't know you had .

Your are right about the dealership you suspect. iT WAS THAT VERY ONE

Just an FYI, but a customer owned '13 GT500 just pulled 601hp and 584tq on the same Livernois dyno that ran an auto ZL1 at 476hp.

Car has 95 miles on it, and conditions at the time of the run are plain ol hot. LOL

I have been happy with the experience at most dealerships. I just bought a SRT locally and they were great, fair and good people. The car buying experience was enjoyable and professional as it should be.

The experience I started this thread was an example of a sad and slighly seedy dealer experience.
It is just a reminder that we should all be careful and know what car we are interested in and what they are worth. I know it is a business for the car dealership but it goes both ways.

Smile two more cents...

Hey guys, I am a sales person at a Franchised Ford and Lincoln dealership in Kansas. We currently have a 2013 Boss 302 and have an allocation for a GT500 scheduled for build in June. In my dealings with potential customers and our management team, the reality is simply based on supply and demand.

Example in point - one of our Fchatter's responded to a posting and asked if the allocation was still available, and modifiable, for our 2013 GT500 and it was. So, the question posed was if it would be over MSRP, 'yes'. In speaking with management, their cumulative experience was that the cars will be selling on eBay for about $10,000 over sticker (which is the case thus far). When I asked them that I wanted to price one, they said that they would be willing to do $5,000 over, but no less. The Fchat proposed buyer then contacted many other dealerships in hopes of seeing what they were willing to do. It is my understanding that 'some' were willing to work a deal at $2500 over MSRP, still a few mentioned $1,000 over.

So, what is my point? I am hoping to speak with the Fchatter again, but he was not quite convinced that the dealers willing to do $1,000 over actually had an allocation. So, some ethical dealers understand the market and do price over MSRP for unique units. Still some other dealers are unethical, but willing to cut a deal at any cost possible.

In my experience, I treat everyone as they wish to be treated. The dealership I represent aslo attempts to earn business the right way everytime! Be grateful that we have, mostly, a capitalist society that still allows a free market. Good people won't gouge a prospective buyer, neither will a business minded dealership earn less on a vehicle than what free market allows.

Thanks for the opportunity to share my $.02.

I agree with you 100%. I know the cars will sell for more than msrp. But I also know Lee, know he's driven most of his cars to the dealer at some point, and they sales people know what he has. So their doubling of the car just for him is absurd and greedy. But not surprising.
They just fall into the unethical portion.

I have a very different opinion. I have purchased over 250 cars, and the only time I ever paid MSRP was for the few Ferrari's I owned. I would NEVER ever pay over MSRP for any car. In my experience the cars that dealers ask over MSRP in many cases are selling for far less than MSRP very quickly. To the dealers who do this I have two words and they are not Happy Birthday!

I am SOOOO glad I was able to get my Laguna Seca for sticker...

So many dealers were asking stupid markups, and after some research, was able to find mine from a dealer that got in ten, yes ten 2012 Boss 302's, 9 regular and one LS, mine.

Morrie your post is the newest thought I have heard in a long time. I never thought of that reason but it is very possible it happens that way sometimes

Fascinating!

Thank you for posting

I agree. Especially for a car that Ford has a history of producing plenty of. They make as many as they can sell. My 97 Cobra was one of 6800. Hardly rare production numbers. It's just what I call a stupid tax for people paying more than MSRP for a car that if they wait six to ten months they can get for under MSRP. Its just the "I have to have it first" tax. I remember my local Ford dealer when the redesigned GT came out in 2005. They were asking $5k dealer fee. I laughed and told them I would never buy from a dealer that does that to people when the car will be on rebates in six months. Guess what, I was right.

Really love the sound of that car. 3.5 to sixty is incredible for a stock "muscle" car.

Demand for this car will be high and Ford would be stupid not to crank out as many (or more) than the market will bear. Wait six months and buy one for MSRP.

If you have already bought a GT and GT500 from them, ask to speak to the manager and let him know that you are willing to pay X amount over list. Period. If they don't like it, let him know not only will you NEVER buy another car from them, you will dissuade everyone that stops to talk to you in the GT from ever coming there either. And they know with a car like the Ford GT, people will stop to talk to you all the time.

It is just the golden rule. You have the gold, you make the rules.

The dealership will make a good chunk in profit margin even selling the car for MSRP. Every penny extra you pay is 100% profit for them. So pay extra if you just have to be the first to have one.

Invoice on the car is $50K and some change.

There are many folks buying at MSRP, and even some getting under.

Just an FYI, Evolution Performance has their 2013 at the track right now. 2nd run was 10.02 @ 141. Stock supercharger and no nitrous.

Sorry... but no domestic OE vehicle that is still being produced is worth over sticker. Good luck.
