Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

It redefines the Camaro and now does what it's supposed to do, except with 580 horsepower. Haters, don't knock it until you try it.

Ah, sorry. Thought you had watched my video.

Yes, they're really good. The ZL1 has replaced the Boss as my favourite muscle car. I want one that looks like this:

Everybody says the same thing, but I don't necessarily agree. ZL1 kills any Mustang around the track.

My footage is currently in with the pro editor, so until then this is what you get:

The previous guy crashed a ZL1 trying the same thing from what I hear...

I figure if I can do that, the car must be good.

Interesting. How about the Boss w/ Laguna Seca Track package? or that 800hp Shelby version?

Ford somehow makes a rear solid axle work in the handling department but I'd still prefer the Camaro.

I've tested the Boss Laguna Seca at Laguna Seca and it's a wonderful piece, but I don't see it keeping up with the ZL1. The ZL1's brakes are markedly better and the suspension is magnificent. The Recaros in the Boss are awesome for OEM seats.

The new Shelby is what, 650 horsepower? Doesn't matter though, Ford hasn't bothered to make it brake and turn.

b-mak:

You maybe correct about the ZL-1 around Laguna, but it weighs 400-500lbs.
more than the Boss and after many laps, I amagine the brakes would be screaming
"No Mas'" on the ZL-1 for that reason alone. Remember it also has 140+ more HP.
than the Boss so it should beat it!

The ZL1's brakes are far superior to the Boss' for that reason.

Having driven both on track, the brakes on the Boss would fade long before the ZL1's.

Motor Trend: ZL1 vs Laguna Seca

FWIW: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...a/viewall.html

Quote:
...With professional racer Randy Pobst behind the wheel, the ZL1 laps the 2.2-mile Inde Motorsports Ranch circuit 2.45 seconds faster than the Boss. That's huge. Pobst credits the Mustang's ability to put its power down, but the data indicates the ZL1 carries more speed everywhere but the slowest corner...
With either one it is a great time to be a fan of American Muscle!

I'm not surprised at all. We'll be going in a different direction for a comparison test.

Brian,

I just realized you're a pro writer/driver; cool gig!

My apologizes for the MT post; I will ask for it to be deleted if you feel it is inappropriate.

Let me know.

TIA,

Steve

ZL1 VS. GT500? 458 vs. ZL1? Curious to know but I suppose you can't tell.

Nice! Of course, the boys at GM have been running simulations for a while. The ZL1 like the ZR1 have a real knack for making even novice drivers look and perform amazingly!

Hey, I'm just another Fchat member here who occasionally gets special access to cars. I don't own the thread, just happy to share my experiences.

MT is doing a great job with their stuff, particularly when they get pros in to do the heavy lifting. I didn't even realize they've done that comparison. It's perfectly logical and I like their qualitative and quantitative approach.
