Stumbled across this site with some tidbits/rumors...

First Look Quotes: The 2013 Mustang Restyle – LA Auto Show Unveil

...“No pics, but I will tell you the front of the 2013 is GT500ish without being too much so, and the new rear end is epic.” The source also noted that Ford confirmed at the event that the refreshed Mustang would be shown for the first time at the LA Auto Show this November...

The source also said, “All models seem to have GT500-esque styling. HIDs across the board, all new from the doors forward, also a new tail panel with outlined blacked out taillights, WAY BETTER than current.”

Another tidbit that grabbed our attention reads, “…yes, the rear lost a lot of plastic and is blacked out with outlined LED taillights. The fascia is different but the boss they were all facing outwards so I didn’t get a good look at the actual bumper cover, just the taillights when they drove off stage...

2013 Mustang LCD Gauge Mode Pics Surface with Gauge and Track Apps!

...The pics show that the apps will include some performance gauges that will give you 1/4 mile times and 1/8 mile times. The more important of the app screens though show that you can use the app to monitor just about anything you want about the car and its components from the air/fuel ratio, cylinder head temperatures, transmission temperatures, and water temps. There is a lot more too so check out the gallery below to see all of what this new cluster and the Track Apps offer. Particularly interesting is the boost/vac screen that Shelby GT500 owners will appreciate...

Interesting...............IMHO it is the rear end (tail lights and bumper cover) of the current car that needs immediate redesigning the most.

I really don't like the myford touch system. Looks like screen shots from that system. Maybe I just need to get used to it.

After a few months with my Z06 (and yes I have made some alterations) and hearing about the new C7, Viper, and now the Mustang, I start to think who needs to spend 250K on a so called exotic, when these cars can perform as well or better, and considering most of the owners of any high perfomance car never use it to even half its potential, it comes down more to the hey look at me thing. Glad I outgrew that, saving me a lot of money.

I have always hated muscle cars but the new Vette,CTS-V and Mustang are world class.
The cars from BMW,Merc,VW and Audi for nothing for me. After 35 years of being a foreign car guy are over. Still like the Jags and Astons and wished TVR were still around selling cars in the USA.

I agree; not a fan of the diaper... The previous model had a much cleaner tail, imho.

Who? Not someone who needs to spend it, but someone who wants to spend it. On something that appeals on an emotional level. On attention to detail, quality of craftsmanship, bespoke construction, technology, sound or, yes, prestige and heritage. Exotic is not defined by performance.


Cools apps for the Mustang. I happen to like the current rear end. It makes the original S197 look so unfinished.

I guess I am different, the kool aid wore off, I guess all those years with the Dead I had way too much of it so its effects were only temporary. My Ferrari's or Maserati's or my Lamborghini did nothing for me, in fact I got to the point I only drove them when no one else was on the road. I hated, and I mean hated the attention they drew. I do not need a car label to feel things, I have that in my family. Do no get me wrong I still like cars, I just look at them differently these days. To each his own I guess. Oh yeah read Mr. Breeze it is for sale on Amazon even has a Ferrari in it, or wait for the movie.

I've always liked Mustangs and I've often considered buying one but never did. My problem: they are ALL OVER THE PLACE. I see them everywhere. It's difficult to get excited about a car that the economy version looks really similar to the fire breathing version.

That being said, I'm so over the Camaro styling already. It's too much of a cartoon and overdone. The sides look so over the top, I'm worn out with it's look already. And, somehow, it looks cheap to me, particularly at the rear.

The Mustang never has. It's just too common for me to get really excited about.

You've hit the nail on the head there. Unfortunately due to all the crash regulations, etc, the retro styling looks out of proportion and bloated. Everytime I think about a new Camaro or Charger, my mind instantly goes back to the originals, and I want one of those instead!

The only exception for me was the '01 Mustang Bullitt. Great color, cool interior, simple styling, etc. That was the beginning of the retro thing and I nearly bought one off the showroom floor.



Of course you can't argue with the performance and reliability. For 30k you get a lot!

See I like the '10-up rear much more then the '05-'09, minus the tail lamps overall shape. I don't like the '05-'09 cars as a whole honestly. The 2010 redesign made the car look MUCH better IMO.

...Our spy photographers have snapped a Mustang GT prototype with just a thin layer of 3M vinyl hiding the changes. Up front, you can clearly see the GT500's influence in this Mustang prototype's protruding grille. Also note that the coupe has dropped the Mustang GT's circular, grille-mounted foglamps, as well as swapped out its galloping horse badge for a new logo that's been moved from the center of the grille to the side. Even the lower air intake is shaped like an open smile, just like on the current GT500. And, is that a splitter we see hanging off the car's chin?

We can also see brand new projector beam headlights up front with some LED tech buried within, and out back, the rear end gets new taillights. That rear wing is also new, and the rear bumper has been slightly redesigned as well...

for the price of the new Mustangs (and Camaros, Challengers, et al)... why not source a decent DD original? A nice 1969 Mach 1 is just so much cooler than this...

Agreed, but some of us (me included) want/need to take into consideration things not available on the classic stuff (e.g. safety, mpg, Bluetooth, commuting comfort, etc) when it comes to a DD.

If you like the classic lines of the 1960s Mustang but prefer the amenities of a modern car, then you'll definitely want to check out this unique pony car. Built by 23-year-old Johnny "Sparks", this 2011 Ford Mustang GT has been fitted with body panels from the 1968 and 1969 model years for a very unique look. Of course, the body panels weren't an exact fit so most of the panels had to be lengthened, widened or stretched to fit over the chassis. Some parts, like the front portion of the hood, had to be completely built from scratch. The result looks better than you might think, with the lines of the car flowing together quite well.

In addition to the new body panels, the car has also been fitted with a variety of modifications including a full exhaust system, cold-air intake and 20-inch wheels and tires. Finally, the car has been finished off in a matte red paint with black graphics...

...The V6, as with the GT, gets a significant brawny cue from the top-dog Shelby GT500, that protruding grille. Although it receives the same headlight treatment as the GT, the V6 leaves off the front splitter and the running-horse logo remains front and center in the grille, not offset as on the GT prototype.

Things are tamer out back, naturally, but a revised treatment of taillights and bumper will set this one apart from others in the family...
