Sounds great. Look forward to your report on your new F12 and the differences between it and the 599GTB.

I was told something so ridiculous about the wait for an F12 that I'd rather not repeat it here, but the order is in anyway...

Were you given any window of a possible delivery date? That is VERY EXCITING if it's "not that long."

Thanks-

Seriously no sales taxes in GA?

Not if you buy the car from an individual.

So are you going to trade in your 599 on the F12?

I noticed that too. it seems crazy any state would let that much revenue go throughout the year on every vehicle that changes hands privately. If there was no sales tax between individuals and sales tax if you buy from a dealer's inventory, it seems like a disincentive to ever use a dealer (in this case about $12,000 of disincentive). It doesn't make any sense.

Maybe MO is just more on the ball with tax collection. You have to have a bill of sale and a signed title without any funny business before you can get a plate. Even ATV and other off-road vehicles have to have a title to be used on public land.

My experience is most Ferraris get sold thru dealers so it's hard to find a private sale on a car you want. Also in Georgia you get credit for a trade in.

Ontario Canada also 'had' no provincial sales tax on private sales of automobiles up until a few years ago. I say had because the rules changed and it is an across the board tax on private and dealer sales now. The official reason given was to 'level the playing field' between dealers and private sellers...
The current Harmonized Tax (Federal + Provincial) is now 13%.

Hi All,

Im a long time porsche owner and have had every model since the 993 (Now have a 991 as my dd).my only Italian was a maserati gran turismo (2009)

Have taken my time to add an f car to the collection and recently drove a 599 (which as my first choice) which I loved.I then drove a 430 which was awesome fun but then I drove a 2010 458. Loved them all but can only get one and am struggling to make a decision. I appreciate they are very different cars, and the price difference is insignificant on the ones i am looking at.I want to make a decision this week and would be keen to hear from owners who owned either or both.

No contest; for the most modern Ferrari go with the 458.

Georgia just passed or is in the process of creating a law that levels the playing field between dealer sales and private sales with respect to sales tax ( heavily lobied by dealers )... it is a bit confusing at the moment... it also has something to do with the way ad valorum tax applies as well... something about a one time charge vs annual assessments... something that Georgia residents need to confirm and how it applies to private sales going forward

I have owned or own all three. I like the 458 the best at the moment but I think I like my Ferrari as a sports car rather than a GT. Whey I traded my F430 for a 599 I missed my F430 at times. I started to buy another one to go with my 599 but decided I didn't need 2 Ferrari's. So far I am happy with the 458.

BTW, I have had a bunch of Porsches too. One of my current DD is a 991 coupe. I love it, but it is not a 458. A Porsche does not stick out like a Ferrari does and IMHO makes a better daily driver.

Smile Done

I went back and drove both today - I decided to take the 458, it just felt "more modern" and i still cant get the smile off my face, I pick it up on the weekend.
Im an Aussie living in Switzerland and have to say the Ferrari dealer here is an awesome guy who is amazingly focused on the customer.
Thanks for the feedback
