Indeed, 412's do come up from time to time, although not too often... I guess because not as many were made as compared to the 400 series (?). Cheers, Sam |

As the undercarriage photos show, the car lacks catalytic convertors. I have heard it said that the 400i can pass Smog Check without cats, but I am skeptical. A carbureted car would be even more of a challenge.

Back on Ebay with a Buy it Now of $30000.00 USD... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1977-...item3376961fd1 The last Ebay Auction looked like it reached a bid of $15800 USD and then they cancelled the auction for some reason? Cheers, Sam |

i would much rather have a well worn original interior that i could nourish than what looks like greasey, ill fitting vinyl on this car...
it may be leather, but it's still ill fitting and incorrect. however, trying to recreate what the craftsman at the Factory acheived is really, really challenging, as the inserts, which were deleted here, are a huge challenge. the best guy in the business up my way won't touch another 400 interior for a penny less than $15K, not including carpets, for which you need to add $2K... and that's if you do the re and re yourself. nevertheless, a 4 cam, carbed V-12 that looks decent is a ton of car for $30K, if it runs nice...my '78 400 A is still my clear favorite of all my Ferrari's at this point. |

Just an FYI, but you can probably buy replacement seat skins from the company (tappezzerialuppi.com) that Ferrari uses (or did use) for a number of their interiors. I say this, as enquired about new seat skins for my BB (1200 Euro for a pair) and it was not a problem and so I am pretty sure they could do the 365/400 series too. If you do a search in the BB section you will find a post I did about this. In my case I ended up Leatherique'ing and redying my seats, as the leather was actually in excellent condition with only scuffs/scratches (no tears, etc) that the leatherique/redye process sorted out quite effectively. thanks Sam...but, you know, i find that with 'one-size-fits-all' seat covers, you end up with seats that look like they have 'one-size-fits-all' seat covers.
there's a few big dollar restorations around here where 'covers' were used and it detracts from the finished product...period. i'd rather just spend the extra and let a good upholsterer do what he does best...custom upholstery. i'm happy you were able to work with your original leather...that's the best possible scenario. brett Last edited by brettski; 05-24-2012 at 02:54 PM. |

This seller is regularly renewing its SF Bay Area Craigslist listing. The asking price is now $27,900. That's $5,600 below the original Craigslist price on April 29, and $250 more than the eBay Buy It Now price. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/ctd/3130791168.html
With four hours left on the eBay auction, and with 20 bids in the can, the current price is $15,100, with the reserve not met. |

The underside looks like it was cleaned recently so it may be hard to assess what the leak situation is. The video of the engine start up sounds a little noisy to me, sort of "tappety" as if the valves might need adjustment. Mohr also is selling a 1999 456 GTA for $49,750 that looks pretty good although fans of more modern Ferrarsi may grouse about the "high mileage" at 33K! Anyone familiar with that dealer in Monterey, CA? |

Bidding ended at $21,600, Reserve Not Met. Would we expect the reserve and the Buy It Now price to be the same?

Boy you're right about that interior Brett. Not only doesn't it fit but it also is stiched in the wrong places.
I still wonder how hard this car was hit in the front end. It was popped pretty good.

For my future buying edification, how are you determining that it was hit on the front end?

You mean other than the picture of where the front bumper and valance have been hit?
