400i for sale

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national

No relation to this sale but thought I would pass it on in case someone is looking for a nice looking red 400i with an automatic.

Seems as though there have been a lot of these cars changing hands in the past few weeks despite being the middle of winter.

Prices have been strong, too.

Anyone know anything about the 5 speed in Canada? The website doesn't list the serial number and I only have one or two Blue/tan series one 5 speeds on my list. I don't think that it is either one but you never know.

i haven't seen it myself, but it's a beautiful colour combination...it would have to close to tip-top to get that money though, but worth every penny if it was.
i've become a big fan of the early injected cars, particularly when you dump the OEM center resonators for straight pipes...it's a fantastic sound...perfect...
and when they're right, they absolutely fly !

um, check that, i do know the car very well.
i went back to the pics and just couldn't believe that there could be 2 '81's in that colour combo so close to home...but the 'sheilds' threw me and i'm surprised it's for sale.
it is a car we had through here, but was traded in on a Testarossa.
i'll get the serial number for you John and if anyone else wants further info, let me know.

it's a very cool car, shows nice...
we did a bunch of things to it, including the aforementioned exhaust work, new Ansa's at the back, cerama coated headers, new Koni rear levellers...
and, i think, a HT gear reduction starter....but i'd have to check that.

but, there are things anybody looking at it should take into consideration...mind you, the seller may have addressed certain things since they've had it...i wouldn't know.

Smile 400i Toronto

Hi, agree too many blue 400's in the GTA. Saw a 5-speed 412 at Autoforum three years ago, brought in from France, blue on crema/light tan, asking $50K, netted 46K, but lower kms, and I saw the car... M I N T. I'd be keen to hear what granturismo comes up with on the past work orders, or VIN. I'm looking at one in California at half the price, trying to find someone near SanDiego to do a PPI. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Good luck.

yup, the Chiaro blue, French 412 was a customer's car...traded it in a Porsche 930...???...never understood why Paul did that, but it's still in the area, in good hands.

we changed the steering pump on the 412, as well as caps, wires, rotors and a bunch of trim bits and lights, etc.

good luck in your search Simon, let me know if i can help.

+1 Yes as much as i think they are a timeless shape it was the engine and noise that attracted me in the first place.
I can only imagine the sound from outside with an unrestricted exhaust. Fantastic!

Dump the old exhaust

I eliminated my "original" contraption..never looked back...now she sounds like a Ferrari, and the cabin is cooler as well...Jacques.

Hi Rockko, sounds great but can we get away with it in Australia. I am in Hobart and they are a little strange about that sort of thing. I do have another query about getting a light switch. I only get rear tail lights when I turn the switch half way then nothing. any help would be great. thankyou

Hi DJG,
Sorry was computer less for a few days and could not post a reply. Can we get away with that noise level in OZ, good question and probably yes.
my old healey has a completely straight through system on it producing a beautiful deep exhaust note, and a noticeable increase in power.
I think in many cases it comes down to how you drive it, as to if you can get away with it. Also worth remembering that as far as I know FI cars need a balanced exhaust system to
operate properly (some one with more knowledge Can chime in and correct me here) so you
need to take care not to remove all the back pressure I believe.

In regards to your switch problem, you may have some success doing a thread search from previous posts. It sounds to me like the actual switch may be faulty, and I would take care using it until confirmed one way or the other. It is possible to do some wiring harness damage or fire if the power sauce is somehow breached behind the dash panel.

The photos show the same dealership -- Humberview Motorsports -- as the ad from one year ago. The $10,000 discount says they're tired of lookin' at it.

I don't like a lot of Ferrari's in Blue, but I LOVE the color combo with tan and blue carpets...looks fan-tastic.

400i @ Humberview now sold

Went to look to buy 9days ago. It sold the week before. Non-buyer's non-faster-acting-twit remorse.
As a car dealer buddy always tells me, there will always be another car.
Plus ca change!

the blue car would have been very, very well bought at it's recent price...no doubt about it.

we've got a black, manual gearbox Series 1 400i for sale Simon...and it will be extremely well bought for about the same money.

give me a call if you'd lke to discuss it...
