F1 sounding 308
Hi Everyone,
What can someone purchase to make their 308 sound like a F1 car. I have heard some 308's with Tubies on them. In my opinion did not make much difference. I know that Nouvalari is selling the exhaust and headers for a far price, not certain how good it sounds. |

The only thing I have heard that has a F1 sound is a 355 with a Tubi(?) exhaust. The 5th valve is able to hit the higher pitch. For a 308 you would probably have to have a quatrovalve to begin with. I doubt a 2 valve could achieve this.

you could purchase a loud stereo sytems and put on an F1 soundtrack....
308's will never sound like F1's |

There was a Youtube video I saw years ago with a turbo 308 (I think) on a portable dyno. Sounded awesome!! The engine really had a nice scream to it. I can't find the video anymore.
There might have been some details on the car setup in the notes.

A pair of Supertrapps will come close. You can "tune" them to sound however you want. Keep in mind, however, the 308 likes some back pressure.

The car is up on the lift for the winter, but I should have it down next month -I'll be installing a new interior at that time. I'll try to get a sound clip for you then.

I've only heard 348 series cars and onward sound like F1 cars. There's more to it than the exhaust -there's cam timing and max rpm.

[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3-ikomcpX8] I dont know if this link works since i suck in computers, but youtube/308 gt/m this sounds like a f1 and it has a 308 engine. yes this is a higly tuned racing engine, but i dont think rpm has anything to to with it. I have always wondered why the 348 have such high pitch sound while the 328 don`t. I always thought they have basicly the same engine only different stroke. I think the cams make all the differense Last edited by plankeracer; 12-16-2011 at 04:09 PM. |

Think you fellers need to go back about 35-40 years; then you can have close to an F1 sound....of the day, of course.
How can one possibly expect a car that redlines at 7700 RPM to compare with one that does so at 18000 RPMs? Not even a 458 is going to sound like a modern F1 car; not even a 355 really does. And...this is, of course, truly subjective, I don't think modern F1 cars are the best sounding vehicles, anyway; too high-pitched. They are amazing, no doubt, and they DO sound great, but I think there are better sounds. |

Nouvalari 308 Exhaust
Here is a link to a 308 GTS with a Nouvalari exhaust. I had a Nouvalari Supersport on my 308 QV and it sounded great. This is a Sport version and the Supersport will be even louder. The 4 valve versus the 2 valve will have a play on the sound level and the tone.
Let me know what you think Nouvalari 355 Sound Last edited by captglen; 12-18-2011 at 11:54 AM. |

More valves and wasted spark (fires spark plug on exhaust stroke) will sound much like a 355. If you want to sound like a F1, you have to add many RPM. Ferrari having a flat crank makes them sound like music normally. Listen to a ford with 180 degree headers so the exhaust pulses line up.
