Personally, I think it's amazing that the Enzo and 997 GT3 RS weigh within 9 pounds of each other with an empty gas tank. The Enzo motor is twice the size!

We measured this Scud at 1421 kg (42.7% AV, 57.3% AR) i.e. 3129lbs with a full tank of gas minus 50 highway miles.
We also measured loads of other cars, including 30 sport cars of all creeds, my 550 and 355 GTS included. Some are spot on with claims, others ... more optimistic. Porsche not the least with 997 GT3s and GT3 RSs. They are all in the vicinity of 1450 to 1470kg with a full tank depending on options. |

I'm working on the F40, F50, 288GTO and Scuderia now. I know a local person that has all of these cars, but he's out of town for a few weeks. So if there's anyone else in Southern California who has these cars, please PM me. I'll pay to fill it up, lunch, or dinner, whichever the owner prefers. Or a ride in one of my cars if they prefer that.

I have the weight of over a dozen of 997 GT3 and GT3 RS (including my former RS weighed multiple times). Base car no options: 3,141 lbs, with PCCB 3,099 lbs, both figures with no fuel. At one event my RS weighed close to 3,300 lbs on the POC digital scales. |

Fascinating project. I find it interesting that the weights on all these cars are pretty close. Is the technology limited? Maybe all the safety rules affect a car more than anything else?

Bill see if Jeffry is in town, he has a F40. If you can't find ANYONE in CA let me know and I might bring mine from AZ there on the way to Concorso or something.

Bill, thanks for the thread.
I used to think that +/- 3200 lbs. for a supercar was slightly disappointing, and to some extent I still do and would like to see manufacturers strive to dip them well below the 3000 lb. mark (like what Jim did with the P 4/5). But then I Googled the dimensions of both the Stradale and the Enzo and realized what a pretty impressive achievement the Enzo's weight really is. It's ten inches longer, five inches wider, and only two inches shorter than its sister and yet it weighs only 160 lbs. more. It also has four extra cylinders and the accompanying elements necessary to keep the extra heat reigned in... Quite remarkable. I guess carbon fiber goes quite a long way... |

Great thread!
Would be interested to see if Gordon Murray's claims of his F1 "weighing no more than a Golf" are true. Also, does the Zonda S really come in at only 2700 lbs, or is that a Ferrari-like claim of dry weight only? |

Jeffrey has both the F40 and F50 which would knock 2 off of your list if he would want to have them weighed.

While we did have fuel in her on the PF scales in the wind tunnel we weren't full so I'd say about 400lbs lighter. We have engineered a CF front sub frame that we'll be fitting at some point which we think will take even more weight out.
